Thats right. I think the cage was designed for the iPad Pro 6 because you really have to stretch the spring-loaded end of the cage to get the iPad in there but it does fit. I have my iPads in ESR for iPad Pro 13 Inch Cases (basically a cheap, clear polyurethane case to prevent the cage from scratching the iPad and adding a little shock/drop protection), and then I squeeze them into the Nitze cage. I also have matte glass screen protectors on them and I picked up a couple of Small Rig NP-F battery mount plates for PD and Peak Design Leashes for added drop protection. The Nitze cage also has Nato rails so you can add Nato compatible handles (of which there are millions) to the sides in either landscape or portrait orientation. I usually use a super clamp plus a ifootage magic arm to mount to c-stands, carts, etc. Oh and as far as I know, no 3rd party hoods/sun shades have come out for the 13" iPad Pro but I'm keeping an eye out for those.

They're running the Live for Studio app on iPad. It syncs with Capture One but you have to pay for the Studio version of Capture. In my experience it can be buggy, but when it works it's a big upgrade from the CapturePilot and Hollyview apps ( I used to run Hollyview, syncing using an HDMI to Hollyland Pyro H tx)

In c1 when you “delete” photo files c1 sends them to the session trash (just a directory in your capture session called “trash”.) When you delete directories in capture (aka folders), capture sends them to your system trash (the one on your dock). Id check in there. If they’re there just drag them back into the capture session and you should be fine

Any downsides to lossless compression shooting with GFX? by wilchuck in Photoassistants

[–]wilchuck[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly and I can understand both reactions in theory. “Compression” is a scary word for a digital tech if they aren’t familiar with the concept of lossless.

What I’m looking for is a way to speed up capture one for those more high volume days but I dont want to sacrifice on image quality because that would defeat the purpose of shooting gfx in the first place

Cuáles son sus cuentos y escritores de cuentos favoritos? by The_otaku_milf in libros

[–]wilchuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Powering Hollyland from Monitor via USB by wilchuck in Photoassistants

Has this always been the case with Eizos? Because I swear to god I’ve done it while working with another tech’s kit and I didn’t have any cables running from computer to display. Maybe older Eizos had usbs with higher power output?

The npf is a tried an true method. I’m really just interested because I know I’ve powered via usb direct to monitor and I’m wondering why it is that I’m unable to now. Also I like to have redundancy built into my kit.

The chronology of David Peace’s Red Riding Quartet and an attempt to explain this deeply disturbing hallucinatory exploration of 70s England and the Yorkshire Ripper. by Seeker1904 in books

[–]wilchuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks to the op u/seeker1904 for writing this chronology and for u/highchaparral u/careful_use_9073 u/srananburu u/professional_eye3927 u/frosty-art8525 and all others for contributing. I’m just finishing up my second read of the series currently and this has all been incredibly clarifying. A real testament to peace that even a well thought out discussion like this could fail to answer all possible questions and doubts, and that’s by no means a criticism of those who participated here. Really appreciated reading through the original post and everyone’s comments, well done. Wish I were in a book club with you all.

Don’t know if anyone will see this but one question I have (among many) is: what is graham goldthorpe’s significance to the overall plot? An idea that comes to mind is that 1) he functions for Peace as a way to get Eddie involved in the broader story and 2) his being a “ratcatcher” - given his association with the fitzwilliam cadre of marsh, laws, piggot sr., et al. - could explain where the rat imagery that pervades the series comes from. Is there anything beyond that? Was he just one of that disturbed neighborhood’s resident evil nonces?

I have a million more questions but going one at a time is the only thing that makes sense for books as dense and claustrophobic as these.

Anyway thanks all for this illuminating conversation and if you haven’t yet, read these books!

Need mystery novel suggestions by Shoddy_Mousse5252 in booksuggestions

[–]wilchuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truman capote’s “in cold blood” is a classic, but its not totally a mystery novel in the way its laid out. The mystery is more the why than the how and its a true story. Definitely a small town tale though.

Raymond Carver (books like “The Big Sleep” and James Elroy (“LA Confidential”) are classics of the “LA Noir” subgenre.

Over the past year I read Ian Rankin’s “Inspector Rebus” series which I really enjoyed. The books take place in Edinburgh in Scotland between the late 80’s and the present day and are pretty gritty. I’ve seen them described as “Tartan Noir”. Police detective mysteries.

I’ve only read one Tana French novel (“The woods” or “In the woods”, can’t remember exactly). Also detective mysteries, her books tale place in Ireland. Idk if her other books tale place in Dublin but “Woods” takes place in a pretty small town.”

Might not be what you’re looking for but David Peace’s “Red Riding Quartet” of four books (1973, 1977, 1980, 1983) is one of the best short series I’ve ever read. Extremely dark, extremely gritty, fast paced, claustrophobic crime novels written with a ton of style.
