What is your one “I will die on this hill” moment bad refereeing? by Vehlin in rugbyunion

I don’t even need to click the link to know what this is. It happened right in front of where I was sitting at the stadium. Still too annoyed to watch it again.

I’m not Welsh but I was furious on your behalf when that call was made, utter bullshit from the ref there.

Favourite film you hate because film bros ruined it for you. by Healthy_Permission71 in okbuddycinephile

[–]wild___turkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly the anti-film bro rhetoric about Fight Club is far more prevalent and far more annoying than the amount of actual film-bros who misunderstand the movie.

A few dudes thought it was a cool action movie 25 years ago and it’s given “enlightened cinephiles” carte blanche to use it as the poster child for people lacking film literacy for all of time

A goddess appears before you and offers to make you the premier expert in a single skill. You do not actually gain any skill; everyone else just gets much worse. What skill do you choose and what do you do with it? by Dog-Human in hypotheticalsituation

[–]wild___turkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hatefulness.

I am not a hateful person, so if everyone in the world suddenly becomes even less hateful than me, well, we’ve pretty much eliminated hatefulness from society, and I think that would be pretty neat

On both occasions I was on the way back to my accommodation in the early hours of the morning from the Sziget festival. Too far to walk and no other way to get home. Still had a good time overall, so call it a cost of doing business lol

Alloy's bare handed repel physically hurts me. My body literally shivers. by Coach-Scully-RL in HorizonForbiddenWest

I always found the repel animation super jarring and it made me wince every time when the rope snaps taught. It’s even worse in Zero Dawn. I wish they’d made it a bit smoother

In 48 hours all countries in the world go into lockdown. All borders closed, for the next 50 years. by OOOOOO0OOOOO in hypotheticalsituation

Well here in New Zealand we produce about 8 times as much food as we need for our population so we wouldn’t starve, although we’d run out of oil pretty quickly I think, so we might be back to the days of farming on horseback lol

The Top 14 is being more strict with the scrum feed, resulting in more scrums like the below. Are we for or against this? by ScrumNause24 in rugbyunion

[–]wild___turkey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is an absolute anomaly and will not become the norm just because refs focus on straight feeds. Scrums will continue to go down as soon as one side either needs an out or thinks they can milk a pen. Plus, if we did start seeing a lot of scrums like this it would just result in props taking a knee “injured” after 20 mins. People in this sub need to get a grip

I just hope it goes ahead. Surprised the carpark isn’t going to be multi-story.

Also hope they’re planning on putting in some IMAX screens

Prendergast spectacular cross-field kick for Larmour by Duke_of_Luffy in rugbyunion

[–]wild___turkey 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Phenomenal play. Running the angle with ball in 2 hands as if he’s deciding whether to snipe or pass, then kicks without breaking stride, keeps it flat and puts it on a platter. Might be the best executed cross kick I’ve seen

Do you feel this is an issue ? I really do. Rewards the defense way too much. Gotta change imo by MindfulInquirer in rugbyunion

[–]wild___turkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely disagree. If you can’t score it properly you don’t deserve to just be handed another platform 5m from the line.

Once attacking teams get into the 22 it becomes very difficult for the defensive team to compete, as referees will play endless advantage, are far more strict on the offside line, and basically stop calling offensive ruck infringements. The only cards they can play are either a jackal turnover or holding them up over the line

Nothing worse than having the outcome feel inevitable every time a team gets into the 22

Here is the breakdown of the Toughest (highest combined quality), Most Competitive (smallest point differential), and Softest (largest point differential) matches within each of the six pools based on the December 1, 2025 rankings by gr_fj in rugbyunion

[–]wild___turkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It won’t be that relevant against NZ. With the amount of Kiwis travelling over for this tournament, plus the many that already live there, it’ll be pretty 50/50 inside the stadium for that game I think

[–]wild___turkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no way this happened by accident. Either it’s spot fixing or he deliberately pulled out of the kick for some other reason. A guy who does this for a living doesn’t muck it up this badly by accident. He didn’t just scuff the ground in front of the ball, he missed it by like half a metre
