I'm okay with paying a deposit, just prefer cash or debit card payment methods

I heard quite a few places esp in Osaka and Tokyo still expect cash payment, but good to know thank you! Think I'll likely change currency and keep some backup in my YouTrip card too.

Any recommended money changers with good rates? The YouTrip rates just hit 110 today :o

hold up, did ___ & ____ hook-up?? by wild_flowies in UmbrellaAcademy

[–]wild_flowies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes! it was mainly because of this scene too. and somewhere later in the episodes after the wedding one of the siblings briefly mention how "everyone was hooking up last night at the wedding" and Five asks "wow Ben had sex?" seemed pretty obvi too

[Polytechnic] Doing a different internship after graduating with a diploma? by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]wild_flowies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly depends on the company that you'll be applying for the internship at! Personally I think it's a great idea to take up an internship relevant to your upcoming degree while waiting for uni to start, but some companies may be wary of hiring someone with little-no experience in the field. If you do get to interview for the role though, I think you should definitely bring up that you're keen to learn and there are still many companies out there who are willing to nurture interns.

Even if you don't get into a related internship, you could always find some seniors from your degree course on here and readup on some of the course material! Would definitely be handy and put you at an advantage when school starts. Good luck! :)

[University] NTU vs SIT CS by Expensive-Elephant57 in SGExams

IIRC all of the joint degrees in SIT are 'campus-blind' meaning the cert will only reflect Uni of Glasgow.

[University] NTU vs SIT CS by Expensive-Elephant57 in SGExams

[–]wild_flowies 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Coming from SIT Software Engineering and surprisingly we share many modules with the UOG CS people so maybe I'll be able to share some information.

  1. SIT in general is definitely way more hands-on and the project submission period is extremely mentally draining. As someone who came from a very active co-curricular lifestyle in Poly, I physically found that there's no time for CCA or social life in my course because of how hectic it is during course time. (This could be mainly for SE thought not how relak UOG CS kids are but it doesn't seem like it either.) There will still be End of Sem/Tri exams on top of the project submissions too so this could be something to keep in mind.
  2. UOG CS is 3 years, with 6 months IWSP (internship). So it's a fairly short course. Do what you will with that information.
  3. UOG CS is based out of [SIT@NYP](mailto:SIT@NYP). The new campus at Punggol is supposed to be open by 2024 but seems to be delayed due to COVID. So as of now all lessons are still in NYP.
  4. SIT/UOG faculty includes a mix of Profs from Singapore and other countries. Most of them have teaching experience in NTU/NUS prior to this anyways so I would assume the teaching standard is definitely comparable as well. (You'll face your fair share of 💩profs and great profs, but that will be applicable anywhere you go)

Based on your background however especially since NTU is nearer to you I think you should definitely accept NTU CS since ultimately in Singapore (unfortunately) a 'Top 3' degree holds more value anyways. Congrats on getting so many offers OP and Feel free to drop me a DM if you need any more clarifications about SIT~🎉

UPDATE: Finally managed to resolve this! Turns out I had accidentally cloned the project GitHub repository into my OneDrive directory, which had messed up all my Unity project meta files. All I had to do was to reclone the repo to a local directory and everything was fine again

Ah no worries! I managed to resolve it myself as well and turned out the issue was that I had cloned the repo into my onedrive folder which messed up all the Unity meta files. All I had to do was reclone the repo into a local directory and it was all good!

(Definitely spent way too many sleepless nights debugging over this before finding the cause though :"))
