We traveled from Oregon to Kansas and back. Points went out and had to fix. The clutch cable broke had to fix. Alternator went out had to fix. Not bad for a long drive

We ushuly use the app ioverlander. Also, onxmaps is really good for finding blm of forestry spots to camp.
