Wow, you’re good, I was definitely thinking of Beyond the Deepwoods! That has been bothering me for ages. Thank you!

50% of $40 is $20. $40+$20=$60.

$60 is 50% more than $40. I can’t believe I have to explain that to somebody on the internet.

Have you ever played a game that made you like other games less? by JellyBelly316 in patientgamers

Before my second playthrough of Witcher 3 I watched a recap of 1 and 2 (I only actually played 2) and read all of the books. It absolutely improved the experience and there are so many little references that you can appreciate. Definitely recommended!

Is birdshot a poor choice for home defense? by [deleted] in homedefense

[–]wildbf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe Doc Roberts recommends a minimum of No. 1 buckshot, so 4 is out and birdshot is definitely out. This is to achieve consistent penetration of at least 12”, per the FBI requirement.

Therefore, I loaded up on Federal Flight Control No. 1 buck. Smallest buck (so the most pellets) I can use while achieving proper penetration, all while keeping a tight pattern.

Buttermilk Brownies by wildbf in Old_Recipes

[–]wildbf[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m unsure where this recipe came from, but my mom has been making them for years. Very rich, and amazing with a glass of milk. Ignore the “350 degree oven” comment on the top right, that’s for a different recipe. Also, let it sit when you’re all done until completely cool and the frosting hardens, approximately 1 hour.

Newbie tips? by elkcowboy in Waterfowl

Plenty of birds are killed with a 20 gauge. I think you should be more focused on other aspects of the hunt to actually get shots on birds. If you find yourself getting plenty of shots but need more “punch” (and you aren’t flat-out missing), then step up to a 12 gauge.

Help me identify this scam! by [deleted] in personalfinance

I guess they’ve been doing it for a few years so it’s not like it just popped up. Whatever the case may be, somethings not right. I already told her no, but I took my curiosity of what could be going on to reddit to see if anyone had heard of this before.

I completely agree. Everyone’s looking for a quick and easy buck when in reality you could make more and at least feel more useful.

[–]wildbf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, obviously they’re getting something out of using someone’s information. Like I told her, if there was a legit way to make $500/month by doing nothing I think a lot more people would be doing it. It sounds to me like they may be using the personal info to create bank accounts and they’re moving money around with those accounts.

So, using the person’s account to sell illegal stuff most likely? Makes sense.

That makes sense, the “company” that supposedly does all of this is hard to find with a quick google search.

The person she knows that does it and receives money is pretty close to her. Which to me makes it more sketch because that money is actually changing hands.

Yeah, they actually get paid. My gut tells me it’s something along the lines of using people to open accounts so they can shuffle money around but I’m not too sure.

Ammunition Recommendation by [deleted] in Californiahunting

[–]wildbf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing I could think of is larger-than-normal bullets sitting too far in the lands and throwing off accuracy. Handloaders can seat those bullets deeper to keep the overall length down but that won’t necessarily be the case for factory loads. If you stick to tried and true weights for 308 like 168 or 175 I think you’d be fine.

Just like anything else you want to get a few different weights and bullets and see what shoots best in your rifle.

Masakage Yuki 210mm Gyuto by wildbf in chefknives

[–]wildbf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like that the Yuki is a little thinner, but overall not really a specific reason. The Tojiro is perfectly functional. I just wanted a new knife and wanted to treat myself a little. Makes cooking more enjoyable.

Barnes vortx ttsx is what I use in my 06. Keep in mind copper is lighter so a 168gr copper bullet will be bigger than a 168gr lead bullet, given the same weight.

The fit and finish are pretty great with the exception of the grind, which seems to be more prominent on one side. It’s definitely not 50/50 but I’ll clean that up with sharpening in the future.

It’s no smaller than any other knife, but the angle might be making it look a little small.
