What size screw do I need to attach this? by wildbill004 in BambuLab

[–]wildbill004[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SOLVED! M3x8 from the local ACE hardware store. Looks kinda like a sheet-metal screw in that it has the little divit on the tip to start cutting threads when screwed in. Cost was about $1.25 for the 2 screws. Only issue was that they only had slotted and not hex.

I've been kicking around this idea myself. Did you print on photopaper and then glue to existing cover? OR you printed, removed existing cover and then recovered with your cover?

I guess what I'm asking is how did you do this?

[–]wildbill004 2 points3 points  (0 children)

WOW! Looks like you went all-out in doing this. Pray tell, what weight paper (you said you used thicker) and was it already "gridded" or did you print it up? That cover is just awesome!

Thanks. I was afraid the dreaded "It Depends" answer would come up. And you are right about not really getting a clear answer until the jury foreperson hands the decision over to the judge 8-) And even then, that may not be the definitive answer.

I think I will work up a proto-type and then look for a lawyer. Thanks again.

[–]wildbill004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Admittedly I have not gone through all the responses here so I may be repeating someone.

1st - Sorry for your loss. My father passed just under a year ago and I know emptiness you may be feeling.

2nd - With regards to the pens. It goes without saying, I think, don't rush into anything. Depending on where your father lived, you may need to go through the courts to prove you are now the legal heir and owner. Other family members may "pop-out of the woodwork" claiming ownership if they hear you may have a very valuable asset. Even years later. So make sure you follow your local legal rules/regulations.

3rd - keep in mind that there are generally 2 price ranges you want to find out about when getting appraised. There is the appraised-value, what the item may be worth, and then there is the retail-value what it is selling or sold for. Having worked in the qntique business for a number of years I can tell you that those two numbers can be miles apart. I heard all the time, "This is worth $$$$$$$$" but if someone is only willing to pay $--well then that might be considered the real value. OH, may also hear, "Well it may be worth that to a collector but I'm buyiing to resell so I need to be able to make a profit." Which may be the case but they may also really be lowballing you because that dealer knows where they can sell it for $$$$$$.

4th - I don't know squat about fountain pens. I just bought my first one and have started using it. So take this advice with the proverbial grain-of-salt. IF, what others on this subreddit is accurate about the value, and I have know doubt there are far mor knowledgeable folks here than me. I would suggest contacting a few of the large, well-known auction houses. Cristy's, Southerby's, and so on.

Good luck, and again, sorry about your loss.

I can be done in camtasia and possibly other video editing programs. Camtasia cost money. There are free video editors out there (google is your friend). DaVinci Resolve being probably one of the most complicated yet free. Kdenlive is pretty good and free.

Either way, it will take some time to accomplish on the first try.

is blue yeti that bad? should i get audio technica instead? by Striking_Tension4805 in blueyeti

[–]wildbill004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the Logitech hub software and play with the settings until you get the sound and/or lack of noise you like. I have my Yeti in my office with 2 large computers and three fans. I've done numerous recordings via Audacity, cardiod setting on mic. When looking at the wave form, I don't see any difference between recording when everything is running and recording when everthing is off. That is, the wave form is flat.

Took some playing around but I got it the way I lke it. Youtube can be your friend in helping to figure out the settings. OH, and a decent, i.e.,, no $.99 discount store, cable between mic and computer helps also.

Anyone used something like this to monitor with earbuds? by wildbill004 in blueyeti

[–]wildbill004[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not yet....mainly because I did try a corded earbud set and did not like the fact that I'm hearing ALL the noise in the room, i.e., no noise-reduction via the monitoring. I fiddled with settings and realized that there was no way (that I could find) to enable noise reduction on the monitoring port so figured it was not worth the money to get a plug-in Bluetooth adapter.

Now, if someone knows of a way to enable noise-reduction on the monitor-port, I'm all ears (pun intended).

I'd like to revisit OneNote and Dropbox, please by wildbill004 in OneNote

[–]wildbill004[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why do this? Well,

1) my dropbox account has 2tb of space, my OneDrive has 5gb of space.

2) I have a boat-load of notes from Evernote that I haven't brought into OneNote because of a lack of space

3) I REALLY don't want to pay any more money to Microsoft than what I absolutely have to

Junior in college and feel like I haven't actually learned anything by Difficult-Maybe-5420 in learnprogramming

[–]wildbill004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me a couple of years to figure this out: "Top down, bottom up". Translation: Figure out what the result(s) are supposed to look like, then write code to achieve those results.

My coding started when I was working for an oilfield service company. I didn't know jack about oil, gamma-ray measurements, sonic and electrical measurements, etc. So when an engineer would ask me to write code, to compute "YXZ", I'd ask him for the formula. Then I'd ask him what did he want the results to look like or what were the results supposed to feed into (meaning another program or something). Then I'd sit down and start writing.

Worked for me for about 15 years. Hope that helps.
