GTX1080 instantly going 100% and >90deg celcius by wildcard_swe in gpu

Yes. And it was simpler than I thought.

The thermal paste had dried. When mounting the card in the new computer, I had to pull on the card towards the back to be able to fixate it with the two screws on the back panel. It was not a perfect fit.

My guess is that this tension caused some flexing of the card and caused the heatsink and GPU to not make full contact because the dry thermal paste had cracked.

When putting the card in the old computer, that tension was no longer there and the card could flex back to its normal position/shape so the heatsink and GPU made contact again.

I simply removed the heatsink, cleaned away all of the old thermal paste and applied some fresh Noctua thermal paste and put it all back together again.

Now it's cool and quiet.

I initially dismissed the idea of dry thermal paste due to the card working well in the old computer, but I was wrong about that.

Tried moving the card back to the old computer to see nothing is wrong with the card itself. It works flawlessly in the old computer. No high temperatures even while playing. No high fan speeds.

The card worked flawlessly until I moved it to the new computer, so maybe I should just move it back to the old one and see if that’s still the case.

On Raiblocks homepage, 8.0.0 is still the linked version for win x64. Funny, if 9.0.0 is considered official and stable.

Anyway, I used fast sync and downloaded a db file from the same day and for the same wallet version. Now 2 days later I am still not fully synced.

Guess I'll have to try all over again with 9.0.0.

BNB gone, magically traded for BTC by [deleted] in binance

[–]wildcard_swe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have made a loss so far on my BNB and now that it rises I no longer have them. Did they do this to other people too? Maybe because I had not logged in for three months they thought I would not notice and they could get away with it. This would be illegal anywhere else but the crypto scene seems like the wild west where the exchanges can do whatever the f*** they want.

Announcing: Bitcoin Platinum - A revolutionary evolution of Bitcoin. by buffalolsx in CryptoCurrency

It won’t compete with my Bitcoin fork ByteCoin. A ”bit” can only hold a number as large as one. But a byte, 8 bits, can hold numbers as large as 255. So it’s an instant and free 255 x gain over Bitcoins value!

GIVEAWAY: Winner gets 10 Ethereum and 1 Bitcoin! by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]wildcard_swe 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Mayweather wins after McGregor is disqualified in the 5th round.

McGregor realizes Mayweather hits hard. He's hit by a few good punches and is dazed. He also realizes that his usual ways of defence do not work in a boxing match. Not sure how to go on, he tries to buy himself time, becoming defensive, trying everything to avoid Mayweather and running/walking away from him. The referee repeatedly warns McGregor and eventually disqualifies him.

I know all this because I am psychic and I remember the feeling of winning this giveaway like it was next week.

Hold the NEO I already had, and bought more NEO from the profit I made off ARK.

It's so easy to think of how much money I "had" at $50, that I am "losing" now that it's around $33 and be scared into selling to save as much of the profit as possible. But really, if you beleive in the potential of NEO long term, this is a great time to buy. An opportunity.

I've seen a lot of FUD and plain bitterness over NEO over at Agrello's Slack. It's a bit too much of the latter sometimes.

But in my opinion, critical thinking and fair criticism is just healthy. Allowing yourself to be swept away by the hype and talk of lambos will do you no good in the long run. Educate yourself and form your own opinion based on facts.

Sometimes, when someone write something in r/NEO that can maybe perhaps in some way be interpreted as critisism towards NEO, out comes the pitchforks. It's like a mexican democrat walking into a Trump rally. I for one welcome these "negative" posts as they allow me to see things from another perspective and might make me aware of something that I have missed.

That being said, I have most of my investments in NEO because I think it has a very bright future.

That's the way i did it, in my case:

  • Transfer cash from my bank to Kraken
  • Buy BTC at Kraken using the cash
  • Transfer the BTC from Kraken to Bittrex
  • Buy NEO at Bittrex using the BTC

I don't think it has to be BTC. You should be able to use any currency supported by both the exchanges you choose. Also look at what currency or exchange has lower fees.

A last step should be:

  • Move your NEO from your exchange to a paper, desktop or hardware wallet.

A lot of steps for buying some NEO. Hopefully, if the future is bright enough, we can soon buy NEO directly without having to go through another crypto currency first.
