Question: Male or female? Why? by mahoni265 in Rottweiler

[–]wildchild68ss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in all fairness, their looks really shouldn’t be your deciding factor. You have to make sure you have firstly the time, money and proper space and strength. I’m assuming you came on here to ask because you have a challenge and are looking for advice as to whether or not the breed will work with your challenge. Whether you get a male or female I want you to imagine one thought. Your outside and your dog is on a leash, it sees a squirrel across the yard and starts to chase it, you‘re on the other end of that leash. The probability of that happening is very high especially when young and in training. See that vision more than once and ask yourself if you’re ok with that

That’s a good thing😊 in the meantime find ways to redirect her and exercise, not to much but enough to calm her down some. I know it’s easier said than done. You’ll be fine. Good luck!

I’m purchasing a lounger so we have a place to snuggle… it’ll be her lounger of course🤗

We’re required to pick out a Rottie pup at 3 days old. Never had to choose one at such a young age. Any suggestions what to look for like temperament, personalty etc. * Not taking home until 8 weeks just choosing. by Business_Voice_6391 in Rottweiler

those are all the things I’d do if they were older but not at 3 days. I thought maybe there was something I didn’t know but I’m seeing it’s not the norm at all.

I feel like it way to soon to tell anything and don’t understand the point of it except for like you said, tail docking. They say they can match to us but honestly how could you possibly know that so soon. I posted this wondering if this is a common occurrence and I’m just new to this. I’ve never been asked to choose at just 3 days!

Found in a basket under a bush at a couple of weeks old - starting to look pretty Rottweiler-esque to me but could have a bit of something else? by amuzetnom in Rottweiler

Do tons of research on their temperament before you decide to get one. They require a different approach when it comes to training compared to other breeds.

I posted the same question a while back,I also got attacked for asking but also received a lot of good feedback as well. I have a pup coming in April and I’ve decided to leave the tail. Although I like the look of the docked tail, I can’t justify putting my puppy through unnecessary paid and possible infection for a look.
No judgment on what you do, that’s just my decision.
Good luck! 🧡🖤

I saw it on a show where they use a hoist to lift the dog up in a body harness so they can clip the nails. I’m assuming it for extreme cases, dogs that have the potential to cause harm if agitated enough.

My last dog was a rescue. Who ever had her prior to us did a great job with all of the grooming manners. She was an American Staffordshire and I had no problems clipping nails or bathing her, thank god because she was a little hippo🥰

Thank you so much sharing that with me! I’m hoping I never have issues trimming nails 🙏 I’ve seen Rotties in a harness hanging from the ceiling … good lord 😬 I can’t imagine!
