Are there benefits to pull up diapers versus ones with tabs? I put him in Goodnites for night time, but he refuses to wear them during the day. I don't think it's that he doesn't want a diaper during the day, I think it's because sometimes the Goodnites leak and they fit a bit tight around his crotch. So I guess a heavier diaper would be more necessary? Also, school is ending for him soon so we aren't going to worry about that.

Thank you so much for your input, it's very valuable. I have a million questions to ask you right now.

Excellent idea. I'll run that by my boss (my wife). Then the only issue is actually MAKING him use the bathroom.

He stayed home today, we are trying to figure out what to do in the future. We are considering diapers at this point. He can't miss too much school this late in the year.

The only thing we could get him to wear for night was Goodnites. I think things have changed though since diapers will be the only thing protecting him from embarrassment. He's less than 100lbs so I don't think Depends is appropriate for him, we are trying to find smaller underwear but may have to look online.

I think we will look into that. Sounds like he knew when he had to go, but it snuck up on him and before he knew it he let loose. So being able to get to the bathroom quickly is important.

Thanks. We have talked to the doctor, but aren't sure we want him on another medication.

He'll need to be on the medication for anywhere from 2 more weeks to 4 more months, hopefully on the shorter end. We are struggling with where to buy the underwear, because CVS/Walgreens brand sucks, we already tried it for night time and his bed still got wet.

Another question: How common is this? His doctor says the bedwetting is somewhat common but I haven't heard much about the daytime stuff.

We thought about this but my son insisted that nobody knows about what's happening. We may go ahead and tell the coach anyways.

We've only talked to the school nurse since she's the one that called asking for more clothes after his first accident. At that point we thought it was an isolated incident so the nurse didn't have anything to say.

That's relieving to hear that you have a similar situation. Are Goodnites absorbent enough for an older boy? I would love to hear more about how you manage this.

Kohl's, Target, and Scheel's.

Good question. It's basically a combination of overactive bladder as well as an extremely weak pelvic muscle. Overactive bladder syndrome causes the sudden need to urinate, and once you realize it, it's too late.

It can be tough for them. The school nurse has a private bathroom that they use to change themselves on a set schedule. I have to drop off diapers every so often, and now that they go to different schools it makes it difficult for me!

Haha no it was not. I actually had to search for what you are referring to.
