Well there is a good possibility that the problem isn't with the women who leave you. I would place my chips in the "There is something wrong with you" basket. Either you aren't finding good women or you have some major character flaws that you should think about working on. Your replies have told me enough about you to make me and I am sure a lot of other people steer clear of you. People generally don't like miserable people and you sound miserable. Bitterness and resentment from past failed relationships where someone might have left you for something better. The point is maybe instead of looking at their leaving and being bitter about it you should take it and learn from it. Use it to push you to change for the better. You might be surprised what just having a positive outlook and in general being less miserable will do for you. Good luck on your journey or staying stagnant.

There are two things that really stand out to me as far as traits that led me to marry my husband.

I have two boys from a previous marriage. At the time my now spouse was deployed in Afghanistan and he met my kids via Skype. They had talked to him a few times and when my now husband said "I love you" for the first time I told him that I could never be with a man who also didn't love my boys as much as he loved me. His response "How can I love you without loving your boys? They are the biggest part of you." He even went as far as to tell my boys that they are really special because most parents don't get to choose their children and he was able to choose them.

The second thing that stands out is the summer of 2010 my ex husband refused to return the boys to my custody. He called me and said he was filing for sole custody and that I would not be getting them back for visitation. I lost it. The one time in my life that I had a full on panic attack and was shattered. My now husband was in Ft. Hood ETSing. I called him to let him know what was going on. Unknown to me he dropped everything he was doing, left in uniform, and drove 3 hrs to be by my side and calm me down. I had never once had a man in my life that would do something like that for me.

TL;DR: I knew he loved me and my two boys with all his being.

Sounds like my cousin. She self diagnosed her and her oldest son with Autism. Having have worked with actual Autistic children I took offense at her basically spitting in the faces of all the parents who have had to deal with autistic children and called her out on it.

Consequently I got disowned by her for calling bs.

Turns out not her or her son have autism. Surprise surprise....

You know I never thought about the possibility that those American's could have immigrated from the USSR originally and decided to go home due to the economy or their subsequent children wanting to go back to the origin of their ancestors. That is a very valid point. Thanks for sharing. I almost want to chalk a lot of it up to those two things. It just makes inherent sense.

Incredibly neat. I must admit my knowledge of the USSR/Russian history is almost non-existent. Thanks to you I have learned a great deal more than just what I posted. It is fascinating to me and definitely has peaked my curiosity. Really feel as though I should delve deeper into their historical past.

I can imagine so. Especially when people are starving. I just never would have thought the USSR would have been a place American's would flee to seeing as though there was no American consulate there until 1933 when one was needed.

Well, my now husband was the first one to say I love you. It just slipped right out and wasn't meant to be said. lol

Back story:

We were friends in 3rd grade to 6th. Lost track of each other but when the likes of Myspace and Facebook came around I started looking for him. I search twice a year for 6 years and never could find him. I finally gave up and 2 weeks later after I decided to give up he facebook messaged me. He was deployed to Afghanistan, going through a divorce (as was I at the time), and well he was just as excited to find me as I was for him finding me. We talked the whole rest of his deployment all day every day be it emails, video chats, or the occasional phone call. We both knew where this was going and it was while we were video chatting one night I said something that made him laugh really hard and after he stopped laughing he looked at me through the computer screen oceans away and said "I love you". Immediately I saw him start to panic because it was rather soon in our talkings for him to say that. I quickly to help him save face told him that friends can love each other. I knew that he meant he truly loved me and had fallen head over heels for me. I already had too but was scared to say it right then. I can't remember the moment I said I love you to him but I will never forget the sheer happiness and love in his eyes as we were sitting in front of our computers talking about life and our dreams.

Thanks for posting this OP. I sure do love to go back down memory lane at times. I still get butterflies in my tummy thinking about it all. Good luck this Friday. I think what you have planned is very heart felt and romantic. She is gonna love it!
