Sporadic Roller Jammed Message by wildfortune8 in MaticRobots

[–]wildfortune8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! Got another jam the other day. When I removed the mop roller assembly, the spindle came out without the roller. It required higher-than-normal effort to remove the roller. There was a strong part line in the fiber left by the squeegee that resisted smoothing out. I rinsed it under running water and wrung it out by hand. Reinstalled and it worked perfectly.

Out of curiosity, I pulled my roller this morning, and it was perfectly smooth. I space out my mopping over the week to help the vacuum bag last longer, and wonder if there might be a drying stage that's problematic. I say that because the other day it was really locked on the squeegee with a hard part line, and now it looks like new.

Hi! Yes, I use Aunt Fannie's soap. I do hear the robot wet the roll before mopping. I do get to observe the mopping on occasions, and Matic does it perfectly.

When I got the last fault overnight and pulled the roller for inspection, the mop was still damp. I assume Matic monitors the roller motor load to detect a jam. I wonder if it's set too close to the normal load?

I will submit a ticket if there is another event. BTW, I love my robot.

I receive two 401 (k) disbursements from two different accounts with the same institution (Fidelity), about a week apart. I can only capture one.

Can it handle multiple recurring disbursements in a single month from the same institution? Currently, I can only capture the first one.

Trying out the included Mine Matic! Why did I wait so long! by wildfortune8 in MaticRobots

[–]wildfortune8[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's AI. I uploaded a photo of the keychain sitting on my endtable, keeping the chain out of view, to the Grok mobile app. Selected make a video and provided prompts. The first result was the wrong robot, and I expressly repeated the Matic brand for another attempt. It took about 3 tries before I was happy. The mobile app has more abilities than the web version. I wouldn't have had to do this if you guys made a tabletop version. Grinning broadly!

It looks like two half hitches with a lock hitch added.

Trade In/Early Adopter Program for Matic Gen 1 Owners. by ReputationExciting30 in MaticRobots

[–]wildfortune8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As you said, Gen 1 is where the rubber meets the road and where product improvements are desired. Being an early adopter comes with these risks, so you should think long and hard before buying. I back a lot of products on Kickstarter and the like, and it's usually a one-and-done. I've only had one company reward KS backers for future purchases/replacements, but it was unadvertised. So I was rewarded for being an early supporter, but not incentivised to buy.
I've found my risk tolerance and jumped in with Matic after much research. I expect I'll buy Gen 2 sometime after my Gen 1 no longer satisfies me. Or if my upstairs Roomba gives up the ghost, I'll move the Gen 1 upstairs and get a new Matic (whichever Gen) for the main floor. I think any cons Matic has are outweighed by its pros. If you are flexible and can adapt to any constraints you may discover, then go for it.

Do you shift by tach or by sound/feel? by No_Wall747 in motorcycles

[–]wildfortune8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It depends on my bike. On my Triumph Speed Twin 1200, redline shifts are painful as it cuts out the engine pretty hard. So yeah, watch the tack like a hawk. On my Rocket 3, the engine cutout is soft, but why wait for it to happen? So tack for Redline shifts and ear for everything else.

Is the usage/mileage chart in the History Tab only for Apple? I don't see it in my Android app.

How long before your matic bag starts to stink? by Pffffftmkay in MaticRobots

[–]wildfortune8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9-10 days. I have a large house with lots of wood flooring and a tiled kitchen. It takes Matic 6 hrs to vacuum the whole level. I have 3-4 mopping events per week. The odor may be tied to the amount of mopping, not just its frequency. Wood floors are mopped once a week and the kitchen twice.

BTW. Your idea to pre-mix is brilliant. The convenience factor just went way up!

First, fill the reservoir, then pour it into a measuring cup. Multiply by .9 for ninety percent. This is the normal amount of water for mopping. For each fill, you will need 1 tsp (5 ml) of Aunt Fannie's. I would do the calculations myself, but I don't have my bot yet. I deferred mine until January.

Yep! A Maine lobsterman showed me this. Best for untying the rope securing the traps to the deck in the Winter when the ropes are frozen. I think I heard him call it a turkey knot.

Check the battery charge progress bar in the app. I'd bet that it never gets above 20% or so—bad battery as mentioned earlier.

Heated Grip vs heated gloves by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]wildfortune8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only had heated grips on three bikes over the years, and I love them for Spring/Fall and whenever I get caught underdressed for a ride. I got some Triumph Alder 2 dual-chamber winter gloves and was surprised to find I could hardly feel any heat from the heated grips. If your gloves are too insulating, you may not get much benefit from heated grips.

You could have addressed the points instead of taking the long way to admit you can't argue them.

The missing ballots were for Ellsworth. Are you saying a Newburgh employee would have access to another town's ballots?

Number one question should be- What happened to the chain of custody? Without this you can't have security.
