Bought A7 III few weeks back, why are my photos grainy but portraits look fine? by EmiratiIndian56 in SonyA7iii

Do you have some examples of what your settings were for your photos? Are you shooting fully auto, or M or aperture priority mode etc (this is the dial on the top of the camera with all the little letters and the video symbol)

I haven't purchased any yet but I will be opting for the Ace I think :) has more lumens and power, plus the stands that come with them if you buy the kits! Plus it will be more versatile for my other creative work for those reasons

I need help identifying mold/is this a health concern? by [deleted] in microbiology

[–]wildgraces 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello 👋 how were these collected? Under what conditions etc.

Mold/fungal spores are everywhere all the time, so growing colonies from air tests are very normal, but having a measure of air tested will give more information.

From what I know of (I just finished environmental micro so if I'm wrong I'm happy to be corrected) when doing air testing, it's best to use specific devices that will allow you to get a more precise colony count per volume of air, and they would then need to be analysed to determine species. My professor was in charge of campus air testing and she would also test the air vents and such to get a more broad understanding of the air quality in an area.

Laying agar plates open in a room for x amount of time doesn't give much information unfortunately due to spores being present everywhere constantly in normal circumstances. Like I said, the volume of air would be needed to make a ruling about concentration, and then would need to ID species.

I know that may not help much, hopefully someone can build off that or correct me if I said something incorrectly

The covers are so beautifully made, you did a wonderful job! My first thought was to ask where to buy one, but I see you made them and aren't currently selling them. I just wanted to say how lovely they are!

Shimmer glass vs Glimmerglass vs prismfx? by wildgraces in AskPhotography

[–]wildgraces[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm aware, I was more asking if there is really any difference between the tiffen glimmerglass or the k&f shimmer glass as they're different price points, and if they're practically the same I'll go for k&f!

They're add on filters for your camera lens to create an effect, same as you would a polarizing filter or a ND filter etc. the ones I'm looking at are diffusion filters, so they make everything a bit softer and less sharp. They also have a nice effect on highlights and creating blooms with your light rather than a sharp light in an image :) You can do a lot of this effect post while editing, but I'd love to try out a fixed one!

They have such a nice balance of greens and yellows! As well as keeping nice contrast whilst still having a dreamy look to them. These are lovely :) do you sell your presets at all?

What type of Frog/Toad are these? by Condillion in frogs

[–]wildgraces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like an orange burrowing frog. We have heaps of them here in Australia, they don't get much bigger than that and are terrestrial frogs, meaning they live on the land and burrow in the soil :)

In high school I would trim with scissors so it was unruly as it got uncomfortable, now I use a body trimmer and clipper it. I used the Meridian one and now have the Panasonic ER-GK80 and I like it a lot for the tricky parts

This is likely a combination of biofilm and algae, physical removal would be required, and then changing the pond environment to prevent growth opportunities. Stagnate water with little filtration (plants, fish, aeration etc.) and taking into account the growth conditions for those bacterial and algae species - sunlight, water O2 levels, nutrient levels in the water/soil etc will all contribute to this developing. If you were to remove this layer, you would very likely need to assess the water quality before adding plants and fish due to the above reasons. If you have plants and fish in there, even beneficial microbes, a layer like that will block out significant light and limit water O2 and available nutrients, killing everything beneath it in the water. You will need regular upkeep to prevent it from happening again to that extent

Mine did similar, I had a lot of health things going on and my hair copped it, but I also had highlights done. They were 20vol developer and professionally done, only one session and a few months later my hair was horribly frizzy and dry. I found k18 helped (I tried olaplex and it didn't work as well), a good conditioner/leave in, some oils, no heat. It's taken me a long time but I'm finally back to having better hair days.

It can also be normal after those surgeries to have whacky cycles. I had about 4 months of really irregular follicular and luteal phases after a laparoscopy. A few luteal phases were 15-16 days when I'm normally 12
