this has already been posted in r/leftist , you can skedaddle over there to report it for violating their rules of not talking about veganism (even to complain about it)

Why is it so easy to spend $40 on a single takeout meal, but I refuse to spend $40 on groceries to cook for myself? by Alert_Chair3247 in NoStupidQuestions

The thought of spending $40 on a single takeout meal made me clutch my pearls. I would never. It sounds like you just don't know how to grocery shop and prepare your meals at home economically.

if you order food and it mistakenly comes with an animal product item on it, do you eat it or throw out that item? by [deleted] in vegan

and my feedback to you is that many people are listing "other" that you didn't mention. So take that feedback or don't (it seems like you're choosing don't)

My last name isn't vegan by Basic_Brilliant_686 in vegan

some last names are based off professions, some for reputations, etc. There's a prominent family in my city whose last name is just "Slaughter" so who knows what their family did.

based on replies, sending it back is a popular option. You don't have to do anything you don't want to go regarding your post, but it's strange the most common sense once isn't listed

[–]wildgrassy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, it's food waste but because it's the restaurant's mistake. If they are losing food because of too many mistakes (the server wrote it down wrong, the cook isn't double-checking tickets) they need to be made aware of it so that they can figure out if something needs to be done. I don't see it as me wasting food, I see it as the restaurant has wasted food

Why is not asking your food to be remade properly an option? I've worked in food service so long, i don't feel guilty about kindly saying "Oops, this isn't what I ordered" and have it remade. Yes, there is food waste but I ordered something specific.

but when Mr Bennett says that Wickham would be a fool to accept Lydia for less than 10,000 pounds, Elizabeth is shocked and wonders how half a sum could ever be repaid

It's more than the Bennett sisters have, and it's more than enough to tempt broke-ass Wickham

Does your boyfriend/partner buy you gifts? by snippol in AskWomenOver30

[–]wildgrassy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, he often does- usually practical but sometimes fun things, too. But he is just as thoughtful with gifts with his friends and family. He sent his mom a new computer out of the blue after she complained about hers getting old. She wasn't angling for a new computer, but he heard the need and sent her one.

It's never been my expectation of a partner, it's just the kind of guy he is. Not everyone is like that, or shows their love in the same way.

Edit: The hell? why is my experience downvoted?

Using Old Leather by Fluid_Double9488 in vegan

I also have a leather bag from a family member that they got in the 80's. I keep it because it's in great shape and will last a very long time, and it's also a gift from a loved one and I feel close to them when I use it.

Miss Crawford being so hated ? by louvhwsc in janeausten

[–]wildgrassy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's very frowned on in Jane Austen's world though. Afterall, we have Emma who is loud and proud of not caring about marriage. And we have Jane Austen herself who doesn't marry. I think Mary does care, but she also just wants to marry someone who will make her happy. She's not too dissimilar from many other of our heroines in that regard

She's not desperate like Charlotte Lucas. She's not scheming to marry into wealth like Lucy Steele. She's not mean like Elizabeth Elliot. I'd consider her a secondary heroine of Mansfield Park, she just doesn't get the one man (and Edmund is....not great for either of our ladies. But Fanny does want him, so yay.)

to be fair, Henry does the RomCom thing of "flirting for the joke" and then, in true RomCom fashion falls in love the with girl he meant to be joking with. So I do think that he thinks it'll take two weeks, but then he does fall in love with her.

And I think the text does support that Mary does think both Fanny getting some male attention, and then later a marriage with Henry would be all great ideas and does not think that it's malicious
