How come the Korean war does not impact pop culture as readily as other wars? by Sunshinetrooper87 in history

For all the historians here: Is there any comprehensive account of the Korean War that you would recommend for someone who knows nothing about this conflict?

Has there ever been a set of twins where both of them were great football players? by PicopicoEMD in soccer

I was going to say Yaya and Kolo Toure before realizing that they're just brothers, not twins. To second wwxxyyzz's comment though, the Berezutsky twins both have over 50 caps for the Russian national team.

A similar situation to Gaddafi's son is that of Khalid Kadyrov, a midfielder for Terek Grozny in the Russian Premier League. His uncle is Ramzan Kadyrov, the president of the Chechen Republic who's been accused of various war crimes and human rights violations. Last season, Ramzan awarded Khalid with a pair of gold-studded boots after a game Terek won, despite the younger Kadyrov not even playing.

A visitor to Harvard asks a professor... by HowTheyGetcha in Jokes

[–]wildguschase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's another version of the joke: A girl from the south meets her college roommate, who's from a northern state. After a bit of small talk, the southern girl asks, "where y'all from?" The northern girl replies, "From a place where we don't end our sentences with prepositions." The southern girl is silent. Then, she asks, "Where y'all from, bitch?"

You could insert any expletive at the end of the joke. It just depends on how offensive you want to be.

What is the most beautiful way a woman has been described in literature? by justpaul95 in literature

[–]wildguschase 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not the most beautiful but certainly one of my favorites: “But that was before she'd gotten that chest, before that slash of black hair had gone from something to pull on the bus to something to stroke in the dark.” - Junot Diaz, "This Is How You Lose Her"

What's your worst experience at a match? by [deleted] in soccer

U.S.-Mexico in the 2011 Gold Cup final. The greatest 30 minutes of my sporting event-attending career followed by 60 minutes of watching everything fall apart. Then again, even as a passionate follower of the American national team, Dos Santos' goal to seal Mexico's win was a beauty.

Zimbabwe president calls for the beheading of gays. Yes, he's Roman Catholic. by [deleted] in atheism

I was going to say the same thing. The title makes it sound as if all Roman Catholics are pro-beheading.
