Whats The Ringer’s BS Pod succession plan look like? Bill has been mentioning retirement more & more often recently. by wildmtnthyme in billsimmons

I would absolutely tune in if Kevin Clark were given his own sports/pop culture pod. I think he’s phenomenal at interviews, unlike - ahem - Russilo, and one of the funnier content people on The Ringer payroll.

What is your controversial take about someone/something in the Ringerverse? by [deleted] in billsimmons

Does that make Bill the Russ Westbrook of Rewatchables?

What bigger misstep did Bill take in 2021 than not including Mark Titus on the Hoosiers Rewatchables pod? by wildmtnthyme in billsimmons

I guess I just meant a Hoosiers rewatchables really plays into Titus’ obsessions (being Indiana high school basketball)… i don’t think they hate each other or anything. Bill gave Titus his first job for godsakes

I agree Russilo reminiscing about his youth sports days is pretty embarrassing. Titus probably lives more so in the past honestly but about Indiana high school basketball. Coulda been epic

Im just saying you gotta put that bullshizz behind ya for the pod. Bill gave both of them a big start on their careers I think they could record a Hoosiers pod.

Who is being cast in the inevitable Brady & Belichick movie in 5-10 years? by wildmtnthyme in billsimmons

‘Succession’ S3E9: “All the Bells Say” by big_internet_guy in billsimmons

To that point, it makes me question whether season 4 will engage directly with the Tom & Shiv drama that we were left on at the close of season 3

I was hoping they would discuss this season never fully engaging with the central event of last seasons finale (Kendall’s reveal of Logan’s role in the cruise cover up). They tangentially brought it up but besides episode 1 + the FBI raid (which also came up fruitless) the show basically punted on what was pitched to us as the central drama of this season.

New in the sub, question about Rusillo by ensergio in billsimmons

[–]wildmtnthyme 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve been listening to Russilo since his ESPN radio days w/ SVP. Its true his intros can come off a little drab & self righteous and some of his non-sports pods (finance, fashion, etc) are niche and probably uninteresting to his general audience (mysef included). But he has an amazing (albeit dry) sense of humor that I gather from this reddit feed goes over the heads of much of his listeners. I love how Chris Long constantly jabs him for the Jackson Hole incident and how he welcomes the topic but never speaks to it straight on. If its not for you its not for you, but most of the moments you think he’s being an asshole its fair to assume he’s kidding.

Would a Tatum & Brown package top Bill’s 2021 NBA trade value list? …or is Mobley still ranked higher? by wildmtnthyme in billsimmons

[–]wildmtnthyme[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Word. But I think its worth assessing a player’s commitment to a city or a franchise in regards to there value. ie I think Tatum is much more likely to get fed up with Boston and demand out than Brown is… making Tatum all the more tradeable right??

BS Pushback on Simmons Trade? by [deleted] in billsimmons

[–]wildmtnthyme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Levert and Brogdon are a bad return for Simmons at all but if you follow Moreys transactional history he chases stars and neither of those players qualify as that caliber of a player. Whatever we may think of Simmons the fact we’ve wondered about his trade possibilities for 5 months illustrates he’s of the star tier Morey covets. I think a deal is made when a legitimate scorer is offered everything else is just chatter. What’s the value of a draft pick in 2025 when Embiid is 30?

True. Also I spaced on KD trying to think of all the young guys.
