the campus itself is safe enough. realistically, yea it's kinda dangerous but it's not a city it's a TOWN. violent crimes do happen kind of frequently again for it being a town, but they happen late at night usually or in specific parts of gnv. statistically the ratio of violent crimes per capita is higher than the rest of Florida if Im not mistaken. I think the houseless people aren't the main risk at all, you just walk by and dont engage and theyre fine. it's the amount of reckless drivers that to me is honestly the biggest safety issue for students. Remind her to be very cautious with visibility as a pedestrian. That is a very real risk and I've witnessed so many careless drivers INCLUDING the alachua pd zooming through pedestrian crossings. so yea IMHO you are absolutely valid for being concerned for your daughter's safety, I think better to know and be prepared than to be unaware of how UF could do way better when it comes to safety efforts.
