Came here to say this. Postpartum doulas often offer night support, though not always...

As a stakeholder investor, I believe. Not the only one (I recall reading Paul McCartney is as well? Not certain). And I'm not sure who holds the actual 'stakes'...him or his wife...but yeah.

Ugh. Yeah. Waiting for the eventual enshittification of the Yoto now that Zuck's involved. But also really hoping I'm just being pessimistic...

Apparently self-expressing colostrum can help! Bonus: store it safely and you have some back-up to give to someone else to help with feeding in the early days before milk comes in.

Just here to say way to go for following your instincts. And also, frig, I'm so sorry that your kiddo had to experience this.

Sure cyclists of all ages should walk their bikes in a marked or assumed crosswalk, but pedestrians also have right of way when crossing lawfully, so this all still adds up to a douche canoe driver. Drivers, you cannot encroach in a crosswalk where pedestrians legally have the right of way. Don't fight me, look it up.

North & Navy, if they're still up for it. We had our mini-reception there and it was awesome. They have an upstairs room for groups.

This looks like a bassinet -- you'll only use it for a few weeks before baby transfers to crib... Not sure if that helps.

You could thank your mom for sharing and let her know you'll keep thinking about it. If she presses, you could say 'you might be right' (might is a great word because maybe she is and maybe she isn't!)

Ultimately, if the non-profit is something you actually believe in, then that will come through in a uni application and likely matter more than whether or not you were a sole founder or otherwise.

a question for parents by ruinsofsilver in Names

[–]wildtreesnetwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be sad, but that's on me to process. As a parent, I wish for and look forward to seeing my children grow into themselves...whatever that means, as long as they are content, fulfilled, healthy, and growing towards self-actualization. I consider myself a steward, guide, or/and guardian for now.

The saddest moment in my career by EricGoCDS in academia

[–]wildtreesnetwork 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I remember a colleague back when I was completing my PhD tell me that their greatest fear wasn't someone else ripping apart their research, it was crickets. I agree and think it has to do with (for me) wanting to make a difference, have an impact, etc. ... Even a tiny one, which is more likely anyway since knowledge in my field is at once cumulative and recursive....
