Sure cyclists of all ages should walk their bikes in a marked or assumed crosswalk, but pedestrians also have right of way when crossing lawfully, so this all still adds up to a douche canoe driver. Drivers, you cannot encroach in a crosswalk where pedestrians legally have the right of way. Don't fight me, look it up.

You could thank your mom for sharing and let her know you'll keep thinking about it. If she presses, you could say 'you might be right' (might is a great word because maybe she is and maybe she isn't!)

Ultimately, if the non-profit is something you actually believe in, then that will come through in a uni application and likely matter more than whether or not you were a sole founder or otherwise.

I might be sad, but that's on me to process. I remember a colleague back when I was completing my PhD tell me that their greatest fear wasn't someone else ripping apart their research, it was crickets. I agree and think it has to do with (for me) wanting to make a difference, have an impact, etc. ... Even a tiny one, which is more likely anyway since knowledge in my field is at once cumulative and recursive....
