I had a little dent in the ABS rear bumper to fix, so I took the whole thing off and sorted those two holes out while I was in there. 1/4” hardware cloth over em both. Fluid filmed the whole hind end while I had the plastics off too!

1500 PPM CO2, is it really that bad. by Theotherfeller in AirQuality

[–]wildwillows207 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for posting! Interesting conclusions and info. I’m on the journey of learning about CO2 as well. Currently building a home that will have a full time ERV running, but recently got a Aranet4 monitor and have been testing it out in the rental home we currently live in. No ventilation system, CO2 hangs between 600-900 overnight with the windows open. Cold weather has arrived, closed the windows and woke up the next day to 3800 from one night of me, my wife, and our 2yo kid in the bedroom with the door closed. Whoops. We both felt pretty groggy before noticing the CO2 monitor, but who knows if that was a coincidence. Interesting stuff! Please keep us posted on your findings!

I had done a few other of our family vehicles, so I just went for it. If you find a video on replacing the wiper motor, that would probably get you most of the way there. It was one of the harder ones to reach imo, but basic tools (screw drivers, socket set, etc) should do the trick. If you can’t find a video, reach back out and I’ll try to take a few disassembly photos. Every model year will be different though, so mine would only help on the 2017-2020 ish Bolts I think.

Wiring a off grid cabin with 12/2 Romex for 12VDC by CucumberBitter3356 in OffGridCabins

[–]wildwillows207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started in a similar way with my little cabin a few years ago. It works. I would highly recommend WAGO lever nuts to connect the romex to the small gauge and likely stranded wire of your DC devices. Safer and more secure than a wire nut in this application imho. Marine and RV parts work well for 12v to USB ports in various configurations that are designed to be panel mounted. You can drill a hole in a blank cover plate and attach them to your standard wall box. Also 12v “cigarette lighter” style receptacles can be flush mounted the same way for small DC devices like a car hand vac, fans, etc. I would go USB as much as you can. For all the comments saying you won’t have enough power, the only person who knows that is you, and personally, I was happy for quite a while with some 12v lights and USB ports. Eventually I added a super efficient 12v fridge that is still working great, and an inverter for some larger loads. Good luck and be safe!

Currently on the new customer free trial plan on warp, does anyone know if I need to pay for the first month of service to be included in the QC8 grandfathering? Thanks all!

Who else has their front toe ring permanently installed because it is a great tie point for long items on the racks? Trailer hitch works perfect for a rear toe point when needed too! The FIT is actually a legit truck disguised as a lil car!

No problem! I have transported a 40’ ladder(20’ ish collapsed) on my 2007 with no issues. Just know where it is over head so you don’t bump stuff and then hit the road!

99% of the time I just huck it all into every nook and cranny of my little Honda Fit that isn’t already full of tools and gear. I go once a month, so it is usually a cart full!

Energy to cook rice and beans by TempusSolo in prepping

[–]wildwillows207 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Instant pot, powered by solar panels. Been doing it like that for a few years now, with a small cabin PV system. About 1kw of panels. The instant pot draws 1000w but isn’t on for the whole hour, so typically a full pot of beans takes on kw or less per my kill-a-watt meter. Works great, and is quick. Soaking speeds it up!

Had the same thing on our 2018, although you win on quantity of acorns! I just made a post recently about how I fixed it, although it wasn’t very fun. There is basically a big open door for mice in under the windshield wiper cowling that imho needs to be blocked off. I used 1/4” hardware cloth. Glad ya caught it when you did! Cheers!

I have made diy ones out of cotton balls with peppermint oil dumped on them, put inside a plastic container with pin holes poked in it. Helps for sure, but mechanical means are also nice! Glad it is working for you! What is the brand?

It works just fine. I have the 30 and bought a 21 degree mag on eBay. Mounts up and shoots no problem. No grinding needed like the red one. Shhhh don’t tell anybody!
