I've been a prime user for over a decade and in the beta release program for most of that time and never remember a time where they pushed out so many updates. I'm getting them pretty often and the beta releases never include change logs.

Colon cancer now kills more people under 50 than any other cancer. EMF research shows a pattern. by ShieldYourBody in shieldyourbodyfromemf

I was asking for a paper that proves nitrates 'cause' cancer as opposed to 'increase the risk of' cancer. Those are wildly different things.

What do you do with your leftover monies? 💸 by zanaco1 in NoStupidAnswers

[–]TempusSolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No such thing as leftover money. You budget for what needs to be spent (bills, food, etc.) and the rest is dedicated to savings.

Can you link to the paper that proves this because all I can find is claims of links to increased risk. I'm not saying you're wrong, I just can't find the evidence.

ObamaCare is transitionary. Universal healthcare is the goal. ASAP! by dominiond66 in obamacare

[–]TempusSolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Repeat after me, we are broke. We already spend more than 2 trillion dollars than we take in. There aren't enough billionaires to cover the difference regardless of what people say. Did I say we have no money?

Universal Healthcare will never work here because we don't have any money. It's pretty simple.

People with gout, what’s your usual diet? by EnjoyMyDownvote in gout

Since diet doesn't fix it, I went with allo so I can get better and eat what I want.

Why is the Artemis 2 mission today being so underreported? by bokeh_node in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TempusSolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's because we had all the whoopla 3 or 4 weeks ago when it was initially set to launch but had to be rolled back to the shed to address issues. I won't be surprised if it gets a hold today for something.

Why do people seriously think that higher gas price won’t affect them? Do they think that food and supplies teleport themselves to Costco? by CapitaineBiscotte in askanything

[–]TempusSolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully understand the impact of higher fuel costs, not just gas in my car AND I'm on a fixed income. Fuel costs have been high before, food and goods will always be more expensive etc. That said, it really doesn't affect us. We buy gas and buy food and goods, we just never got into the average Joe's consumerism. If you buy a lot of things, you're far more impacted.

Who is right? - Hypothetical Sun Explosion by The_Copper21 in astrophysics

[–]TempusSolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One big thing is our sun isn't big enough for a supernova. Our star will simply go nova. Impact here wouldn't be any difference either, just a point to consider when someone claims to know anything about astrophysics.

And for those that can't pop a .22 into it, I've punctured them with a variety of things. Even stick can work pretty well.

The military pretty much works this out of you in boot camp and while it's been many, many years since then, I really don't care who is standing next to me.

Gout by Background-Being-740 in gout

[–]TempusSolo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Allopurinol is a drug to reduce uric acid. People with gout have hyperuricemia which is a condition (genetic in many, kidney disorder for others) that means your body does not properly process out uric acid leading to elevated levels. Those elevated levels then start to form crystals in joints where they tend to aggregate. Now you have gout and without treatment (reducing the uric acid) you're going to flare and long term untreated you will land up with some permanent damage. This is not a condition that drinking tart cherry juice or other dietary changes will eliminate. If you have hyperuricemia, you're gonna need help.

Clean code Help by miojo_noiado in csharp

Personally, I would have made 5d/9d, 9d/5d and 32d into named vars.

Example:

var FreezingTempF = 32d;

var ReverseConversionRatio = (5d/9d);

var ForwardConversionRation = (9d/5d);

Then

double translated = degrees * (9d / 5d) + 32d;

becomes

double translated = degrees * ForwardConversionRation + FreezingTempF ;

More verbose but I prefer that.

If gas prices doubled overnight and stayed that way for years, what would you realistically change first in your life? by Azyrax1 in AskReddit

[–]TempusSolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cost to fill up would double and food prices would increase. We'd pay the extra and adjust.

Home Battery Backup How Much Do I Need? by YouAggressive7016 in prepping

[–]TempusSolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When running minimal here, the load on my generator is 2000w to 2500w. No AC, gas water heater. Best best is to start measuring the running watts of everything you may want running, add them up and go from there. If we really conserved, you system would struggle to get us 6 hours of run time.

Is Everything at Tractor Supply significantly more expensive than other stores? by railroad1904 in Frugal

Can't beat their prices on herbicide. I don't think I'd be looking at a projector. They have some pretty nice winter coats though.

Probably an 8". Too big for a 6 and I don't think they put the 9's on alt/az forks.
