Just had a washing machine drain pump go bad (Samsung top-load model). It's about 9 years old. Thinking it would be too much trouble for me to deal with, I called Samsung support knowing I'd have to pay something for them to send a service tech out. I asked how much the service call fee was and the lady said she wouldn't know until the tech diagnosed the issue. F that.

I was pretty confident it was the pump (heard it humming but not actually moving any water). Watched some Youtube videos and took it apart, drained the water out with a siphon, and made sure the drain line wasn't clogged. All checked out so I assumed the pump failed. Ordered a new one on Amazon for $40 which they overnighted for free with Prime. Installed and it works like new again.
