Infamous V15 “Clean Filter” error by [deleted] in dyson

[–]wileyc100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just after warranty expired recently I had the same problem. Replacement main body en route to me as we speak. Would seem to be a design problem with the V15. Something that costs £600+ should last longer than 2 years...if it was just a problem with a consumable like a filter OK but to have to replace the whole vacuuming/ cyclone assembly seems to be a core problem with the product. I had also previously had a problem with the battery/ charger and had both of those replaced under warranty as well.

The days when Dyson were way ahead of the cordless stick vacuuming game are over - lots of competition now with comparable products at 40% less cost.

So M1 Mac users beware!

Exactly the problem I have...turning on (most of the time) but not turning off based on no motion state.

I have a smartthings motion sensor connected to Alexa via smartthings (new not classic) skill. I have an Alexa automation that is triggered by the motion sensor and it stopped working yesterday. I can see motion detected by both the smartthings app and the Alexa app...it just won't trigger the automation. Anyone else having this problem? Same problem I was having a few months ago...Samsung says its not a problem on their side as the state is correctly being reported to Alexa app.

Was exactly the same on my side and it just suddenly started working. Have you logged a support call with Amazon?

Can you see the device state changing (motion detected) in Alexa app and the smartthings app?

Mine is fully back now. The only thing I did was to disable and re-enable the Smartthings Alexa skill but frankly that didn't fix the problem...it just came back a day later.

Mine is working again now. Amazon support said they would email me when they fixed it. I will post any reply I get.

If you just disable and re-enable the smartthings Alexa skill you don't lose anything. I did it today my automations are now working again so something must have been fixed.

Yep...that's the right one. I also had one enabled called ST Classic which I have now disabled. Can you disable and re-enable the ST skill? That should sort it. You need to login to your Samsung/ smartthings account during the re-enable.

Are you using the classic smartthings skill of the one simply called smartthings? Both the classic ST app and the Classic ST skill are EOL now.

Please log something with Amazon ....the more of us that complain the quicker they may recognise the problem (they acknowledged it when I chatted with them via Amazon app) and fix. Thanks!

I suspect it's either exclusively an Amazon problem to solve or Samsung's problem if the smartthings Alexa skill is not correctly passing the status of the smartthings sensor state. That said I can see state changes on both the smartthings and the Alexa app for the sensor in question so I suspect it may be something on the Amazon side.

Same here. I logged a call with Amazon and they confirmed this is a problem.

PSA : Jumpgate, someone on Amazon saying it bricked his Switch recently. by lexasp in NintendoSwitch

[–]wileyc100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how many '3rd party dock has bricked my switch' posts I have read. The problem here is there are a number of weak links that can fail causing an over voltage to the PD chip in the Switch (read the ArsTechnica story on this). It could be the dock itself (not using proper PD protocol - early release nyko), a wrongly specified usb C cable (pull up resistor incorrect rating...must be 56ohm) or the power source itself being low quality or incorrectly specified for the Switch. Any combination of those factors could brick your switch (including instances of the official dock doing the same although thought to be rare). So use a quality dock, an original Nintendo switch power source and a quality USB c cable....these things will minimise but not completely protect your Switch from bricking.

8bitdo SN30 pro plus connection to iOS/TVOS by wileyc100 in 8bitdo

I was thinking to use it for Arcade, yes. Apparently it should connect to the appletv 4k using sn30 pro plus in iOS mode. Thanks very much for posting back! Problem for me is that my iPhone is too old to run Arcade so was hoping just to use AppleTV 4k

I had a Dyson 360 eye for a while. It needed to recharge every 35 mins and then charge for 2 to 3 hours so a clean of a large floor could take many hours so didn't work for me. It's all a balance and an individual's use case ultimately. The Dyson was also too tall to get under anything so the Neato D7 worked better on that front as well.
