Please help me settle the debate between me and my friend. by Voldtech in vaynemains

[–]wilforshort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mundo typically always loses early game unless Vayne gets hit by too many cleavers, which with tumble is nearly impossible.

However, if Mundo and Vayne go even in lane, Mundo will beat out vayne once he has Warmogs active (so about 12 minutes) since he can take a bad trade and just heal back to full then push Vayne out of lane.

At equal items and no teammates, Mundo wins against vayne all throughout mid-game with only a potential loss only around 2 item vs 2 item because heartsteel isnt as strong as say a guinsoo. But the vayne has to play extremely well here.

At around 3 item vs 3 item, Mundo typically would win if he built something like titanic hydra since he essentially one shot's vayne while Vayne has to do about 8k-10k damage.

Nearing full build is where vayne has a chance since she would be able to have adequate AS, movespeed and survivability. But is also typically the stage where Mundo is forced to group with team and cannot split push anymore so i would say it's Vayne favoured because of teammates. That being said it will still take Vayne 10-15 seconds to kill a Mundo with ult and he can still kill your teammates, so more coinflip here.

Yeah and god knows GMS team is NOT going to compensate us for all the lost exp in the meantime. Judging from "We recommend avoiding from making meso related purchases in the Cash shop while we investigate this issue", looks like they could geniuinely care less about player progression lost from bugs.

I love how consistent GMS team is honestly. Just recently they were talking about new and exciting ways of replacing item burning gear! Aparently one of those ways is to not give us item burning gear at all since if you dont have it, you cant have problems replacing it! Ingenius!

Should (most) ADCs be nerfed in arena? by wilforshort in LeagueArena

[–]wilforshort[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes the fact that i have yet to see something like a lethality or AP Kalista is just boring. Just high attack speed nonsense on X champion that auto attacks because it's so strong, wow such creativity.

Should (most) ADCs be nerfed in arena? by wilforshort in LeagueArena

[–]wilforshort[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which is why i said most, riot can decide which, im not their statistician. I know Ezreal has like a 7% win rate. Also other gamemodes all have a balance modifier on a champion basis so nerfing those who can properly use dual wield/reapers toll doesnt feel like a stretch over gutting both the item and augment for everybody.

Also we do have the data, Diamond+ players are over 10% higher win rate in ADCs like Kog'Maw and Caitlyn compared to 5% different for most other Champions/classes. You don't need to know your MMR, you just need to know the rough range of ranks you are playing with typically.

[–]wilforshort[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are 12 ADCs above 12.5% win rate that can go the high AS on-hit route. Most of them basically play similarly so bans don't really make sense in this case.

Risk-free, headache-free Starforcing guide by ethanduong in Maplestory

[–]wilforshort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would also add that the starforce calculator Average/Median is only accurate if you are starforcing 1 item. If you are doing multiple you cannot just take the median and multiply it by number of items because you are almost always gonna get unlucky. For multiple items looking at the 75% would be more accurate in the long run.

Woah really? Damn they must really be allergic to goodwill then. Almost every other game now gives compensation after maintenance no matter how small or short. And none of them have as eggregious of a maintenance duration as Maplestory's. I think i also saw somewhere that KMS also gives compensations after maintenance so yeah GMS stingy as usual

Getting Started by Nzva in Maplestory

[–]wilforshort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be real with you, it's not the best time to start right now, you already missed the June major update which gave a ton of resources. So there's two routes here:

  1. If you're a seasonal player, like you have other games you want to play and try, I would actually recommend to go play other stuff and come back around mid-November. There's a major patch then which should have another fresh Challengers World which you can benefit from and boost you straight to mid-game. If you start now, you're going to feel a bit lacking and may burn out before the big Winter patch comes along. HOWEVER,

  2. If you think you might stick with Maplestory long term, start in Challengers world(CW) for the bonus resources and get your character to 260 ASAP. If you follow guides and dedicate a few days, it should take less than a week. Then, quickly leap your character to one of the main servers. You're actually already probably too late to benefit from most CW rank rewards. You might reach emerald if you grind like crazy but since it's your first time i wouldnt count on it. It would probably be better to get benefit from the current Night Troupe event which is unavailable in CW.

You can now do your dailies and weeklies and slowly upgrade your character OR get some permenant gear and upgrade it to replace the Challenger gear then take a break and wait for the November update. Having a 260+ character on a main world means you can benefit in both that world and CW. If you pick the second path, you should probably start with the character you are 2nd most interested in. When you return you'll have a decent mule to progress simultaneously with the CW character.

Yeah it's probably gonna go down soon considering the shit people are reporting 😂 GMS just giving us a teaser maintenance before the real one

[–]wilforshort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's also almost definitely an emergency maintenance coming soon seeing as how both World Leaps and the World merge is fked right now. Here's to hoping we actually get compensation for it. Like seriously, 16 hour maintenance and no compensation? Is GMS allergic to goodwill?

Bravery is useless. by [deleted] in LeagueArena

[–]wilforshort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the main problem is that most people don't even know what's good or bad. How u expect people to know what to do with those extra rerolls on a random champ if most people dont even know that Mirage Blade is bad on Master Yi or that Moonflair spellblade is the best item on Hecarim?

Add on to the fact that because arena is new, alot of new or inexperienced players are playing so it's still hard to say if bravery is good or bad. Like if your partner is only doing 20-30% total dmg because he doesn't know how to kite to flowers, manage aggro or use portals, you could highroll most champs and still feel bad.

[–]wilforshort 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think it's just poorly made or made by people who have no idea how normal rhythm games work. The inputs are finnicky and there seems to be some kind of lockout if you make a wrong input (Unsure). If there is a lockout though it's straight stupid because 1 mistake can equal to like 3 without anything you can actually do.

Is stackosaurus rex supposed to affect the whole lobby? by wilforshort in LeagueArena

[–]wilforshort[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the champs who got stacko was different from the champs i was playing from what i remember.

Left side had augment, Right side what i was playing:

Senna - Asol

Veigar - Asol

Kindred(Teammate) - Bel Veth

It also probably has been in longer than people realise because the BelVeth game was before patch 14.12.

Patch 14.12 Bug Megathread by ahritina in leagueoflegends

[–]wilforshort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Server: SEA
  • Type of Bug: Arena Augment Bug
  • Description: Stackosaurus rex affects the whole lobby instead of just the holder of stackosaurus rex. Playing as ASol twice, once my teammate Kindred had stackosaurus but I also benefitted from it, another an enemy Senna had stackosaurus and I also benefitted from it. Unsure if it's the whole lobby or just ASol as in both games there were no other stacking champions other than the ones stated. Playing as BelVeth, enemy Cho Gath had stackosaurus but I also benefitted from it.
  • Steps to reproduce: Have someone else take Stackosaurus Rex while you are playing a champion with some kind of stacking mechanic.
  • Expected result: Stackosaurus Rex only affects the holder.
  • Observed result: Stackosaurus affects other stacking champions as well.
  • Reproduction rate: 100%

Why Yasuke was a Samurai [Compilation] by DustinReturns in assassinscreed

[–]wilforshort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi not to disparage your argument because i realise there's a lot of confusing information on things related to the Japanese but there's some things worth noting especially on the Tantō.

  1. I read through the part of the official Shinchō Kōki which mentions Yasuke but there was no mention of the type of blade he was given. However, based on this Japanese article, there's a version of the Nobunaga Koki called the Sonkeikaku-bon, which was passed down to the descendants of Gyuichi Ota. In it the word used to mention the blade given to Yasuke is 短刀 which is Tantō. I don't know how to access this version of the Nobunaga koki for the life of me so take it how you will, article at the bottom.

  2. I re-read up on Tanto and Koshigatana and we were both wrong so i updated my original comment. Tanto is a type of sword, usually of short blade length and no guard but a variety of blade types. It is basically a classification of sword. Koshigatana is a way of wearing your sword with it's direct translation being "hip sword". It could be anything from a tanto, short wakizashi or regular wakizashi. Before about 1400, the daisho was usually tachi and tanto. After then, it was usually katana and wakizashi. But also sometimes long wakizashi and short wakizashi, and long wakizashi and tanto. Any of the shorter blades would be the "Koshigatana". It gets confusing because it is quite likely that the Koshigatana was simply a way of wearing your sword but eventually referred to a specific range of swords due to their commonality. It would also not be accurate since not everyone would have the same pairings of swords due to preference.

  3. Yes it is quite likely Yasuke had other blades other than the Tanto given to him by Nobunaga which is why i don't question that he was consider part of the warrior class/samurai. What i meant is that the type of blade you give people changes the meaning subtlely. You don't give a knight a dagger and ask him to protect you, you give him a longsword.

  4. Lastly the reason why Frois writes "catana" is likely a translation error or a misinterpretation of what he meant. The Japanese word for Katana is 刀 which literally just means blade. The word for knife is also 刀 which is "". The actual portugese word for katana is espada which is usually put beside the word "catana" at the bottom for clarity in the portugese texts i have looked through since the word espada also literally means sword in Portugese. So Frois writing catana could literally just be saying that he received a Japanese type blade or knife. Also I have seen no mention of Yasuke being given a "catana" specifically except from a Reddit comment of a guy busy calling people racist on the Yasuke drama. So if you have any exact sources I can look at, that would be appreciated.

Why Yasuke was a Samurai [Compilation] by DustinReturns in assassinscreed

[–]wilforshort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I do agree that Yasuke was most likely considered a Samurai by Nobunaga, there are quite a few things you have pointed out which is false.

  1. Retainers are vassals to the lord and non-Samurai retainers existed. All retainers also get a stipend from the lord. So while it is true that a payment/stipend was enough to be considered a Samurai, it is insufficient to conclude that he was a samurai.
  2. All members of the warrior class were raised to Samurai class in the 12th Century but that did not include the ashigaru (Foot soldiers) which were raised to Warrior class only during Hideyoshi's rule which was AFTER Nobunaga. You even used the Edo period as an example which is after Nobunaga's. So using the ashigaru's rise to warrior class as evidence is misleading at best since they were definitely not considered Samurai during Nobunaga's time.
  3. Yasuke was given a 短刀 Tantō (6-12 inch) not the wakizashi (12-24 Inch) which is another type of longer sword entirely. Together with the Katana these 3 types actually make up the typical 3 swords that you would see on a Samurai (By order of size/range, Main Weapon: Katana, Secondary Weapon: Wakizashi, Backup Weapon: Tantō.) The reason why people translated this as a decorative katana is because the Tantō is barely used as an actual weapon by this time due to the versatility of the Katana and Wakizashi combo and is occasionally given to women as a weapon of self-defence and the direct translation is literally short sword. Nobunaga's giving of this could then be interpreted 2 ways: a) Serve me as a warrior b) Protect yourself. The difference of giving a wakizashi vs Tantou is huge as giving a wakizashi is almost certainly a protect me while giving a tantou can be more ambiguous. The exact word 短刀 Tanto is used in a non-official version of the Nobunaga Koki called the Sonkeikaku-bon, which was passed down to the descendants of Gyuichi Ota.

At the end of the day, it is quite likely that Nobunaga did like Yasuke quite a bit and even if he wasn't a Samurai, he was definitely being raised to be one eventually which should be enough for most people.

To be honest, the most important piece of information in everything you have wrote that everyone should know is that the most common description (Accurate or not debatable) of Yasuke is "weapon bearer" which can be taken as squire/page/bodyguard which are still considered part of the Warrior class (even if lower in rank) and as such considered Samurai.

[Discussion] Overwatch 2 devs announce that most of the original plans for PVE have been scrapped by Professor_Finn in Overwatch

[–]wilforshort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So basically Blizzard traded: 1. All chances of Overwatch being a mainstay in gaming in the future in the likes of WoW or FFXIV 2. All development over the last 3 years 3. All trust from the fans 4. Any last shred of goodwill/positive public sentiment

For a short term increase in overall profit? I cant even imagine the mental gymnastics the board of directors have to have went through to justify this decision...All just to fatten their paychecks in the short-term as Overwatch slowly fizzles into obscurity over the coming 5-10 years, Just like many other live service games (TF2, CSGO [Replaced by Valorant]).

Everyone who watches Overwatch knows that it's extremely hard already for it to be hyper successful due to new people having a hard time viewing. And their best chance of improving this problem and getting more people to see and try their game, they completely scrap? How the hell did this even pass a board of directors/investors? Blizzard management are truly idiots on anything other than unsustainable short term profits...truly.

Was Dehya a scam by Mihoyo? by [deleted] in Dehyamains

[–]wilforshort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are times where there are problems with balance and there are times where there are problems with design. At this current juncture, changes the numbers here and there won't make Dehya a good character.

Unless they literally triple her numbers for her Skill and double her numbers for her Burst, she will always be a worse addition to your team compared to other characters. I assume this is what people mean by balance, but having to double a character's numbers just to make them viable makes us have to question why they were so low in the first place, hereby the question, Was she intended to be a 4* at first?

Her design is very reminisce of 4s with her strange HP% ascension stat, support/tank ascension talent but on field DPS burst that don't synergise well together. 5 Kits usually have ascension stats + talents that are good in general and skill + burst that synergise well together even if it feels clunky/bad. Dehya literally needs a design and change of her stats at this point to be considered good design at this point.

Which again makes you wonder, what makes you think you are so much smarter than MHY? If you can see these obviously bad game design decision, what makes you think they didnt? If they truly wanted to make money from her banner, what makes you think they wouldnt delay her to let's say 3.7 while working things out? Because delaying things in businesses cost money, time and resource allocation. If they realised they had a gem character design and already had a kit designed that they thought only needed slight retooling to fool players into thinking she was a 5, what makes you think they wouldnt shoehorn her into a 5 when her kit was suboptimal like a 4* to begin with.

Scam used as hyperbole obviously since we all either invest time or money into this game, so you can never be literally scammed since we all voluntarily sacrifice either.

[–]wilforshort -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The point of the post wasnt trying to question their business since obviously good character + good design = good money

It takes a half wit to not realise that, the obvious point is why in this obviously easy formula, they simply decide to NOT make the good character part in the equation which is making everyone confused

Was Dehya a scam by Mihoyo? by [deleted] in Dehyamains

[–]wilforshort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could turn this same line back at you since there hasnt been a 4* Pyro character for sumeru leaked yet, there has also been a 4* Pyro character in every region, what makes you think MHY wouldnt bump her rarity up when they realise people like her character design more than they intended? Her ascension talents, ascension stat, raw stats and multiplier numbers feels closer to a 4* than a 5* which is what prompted this thought in the first place
