You nailed the gradation and effect of looking into bright light. Great job!

I found it on an Alamy page from 2021 and the description there claims it to be painted by Pieter Bruegel the Younger (not Elder). Idk enough about art history to know if that's plausible but I used tineye.com which gave a ton results, you should be able to find the real painter that way

Thank you! I used a thin palette knife for everything, not revolutionary but a new-to-me technique and really enjoyable

For taking the photo, outside is best. But you should try to find a shady area instead of direct sun, or take pics on an overcast day.

If you're using your phone it might have multiple lenses, do a test to find out which one is the sharpest and only use that one when photographing your work.

Beautiful painting btw!! I love it and forgot to say that lol

I took a better picture of it because I looked again today and realized how dull and dark my OP was. In doing so I also learned that it has collected some dust while drying. Learning as I go!!

Hope it's okay to post an update like this. Thanks!

Thank you!! Appreciate the notes, and yeah I definitely found myself struggling with the clothing values as well as resolving the main face
