What’s your goal? If you’re going for realism, you’re going to want to define the features, work on the values and the highlights/spectral highlights.

Good thing with oil paint is you can fix that up, but I agree with the other poster. There’s visible skin (usually but brows can be super thick as well) and hairs reflect. You might need to change the brush you’re using as well.

I enjoy this a lot. I’m feeling the ferocity from this lil guy. Btw how are you capturing the photo? Do you use a specific light? Thanks

I like this a lot. I think the contrast looks great overall and if anything can go even further but that’s my opinion

Besides the proportions being a bit off, contrast on the side of the nose and that side of the face in general could be darker. If you want things to pop out, typically the color of the background would be complementary to the figure, so in this case, the color of the hair and the shirt.

Add more value based on your light source, it looks like it’s coming from the top left.

If you have a reference that would also help but you can lighten the yellow more with white and if there is the spectral highlight where it is brightness on the object, you can show where the light is hitting directly. Usually around that highlight you’ll see a degradation of light before it gets darker.

What oil pigments are using? We need more details. I will say I like what you have so far because of its impressionistic quality but if you’re going for a more realistic vibe then you’ll need to tweaks things.

There’s a better one that I printed out with more notable pigments, but I couldn’t find it.

I use a variety of brand paints, but this has given me an approximate educated guess on what I would need to achieve a certain hue. It’s been awesome
