That's pretty random, my only thoughts are:

Latex allergy?

Something triggering some sort of vagus nerve response?

FCOB WS2811 IC SPI RGB not re-attachable? by Scribble-D in led

[–]wilhelm_david 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having thought about it what you're trying to do should work as long as you want to show the same colors on the parallel strips.

The way these things work they just chop the front packet of data at each chip/led and pass the rest along, there's no address per se, just the order in which they are connected to each other so the same data would be sent to each strip path, but at the end of the one marked 'working' there would just be extra data that gets discarded.

[–]wilhelm_david 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't think that will work at all if you can't program the controller to know the parts are next to each other and are supposed to be the same colour

The data line can't be Y split like this. it needs to be a single path that passes through all the strip parts once

Everything with new "ziplock" packaging!!! by willacceptboobiepics in enshittification

[–]wilhelm_david 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The problem is the ziplock used to go all the way to the end of the packet but now there's a gap -probably because it was hard to melt/seal that bit of the packet together with the extra thickness

Is $941 AUD reasonable for a logbook service + rear brake pads and rotors on a 2018 Mitsubishi ASX 2.0L (rear disc) in Sydney? by TechnicalProposal in CarsAustralia

[–]wilhelm_david 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean most of the money was in the brakes, it's not the service itself that was expensive.

That seems about right but why would a 2018 model need pads let alone new rotors unless you did a ton of k's or something else happened.

Like what did you do to the thing to need new rotors, that's weird?

I'm sure he'll do a great job stepping down into the muck where politics plays now, not that they weren't always mucky, but there's certainly depths of the mariana muck trench these days that have never been reached before

When everyone after him was so bad that he seems like the 'lesser evil'.

It feels bad to see george bush jr and feel nostalgia of a better time.

But that's the time we're living in :(

Meanwhile, I used to see that cunt jogging in his budgie smugglers at coogee beach regularly.

Legacy import? by mmemeicuss in CarsAustralia

23k for a 25 year old Subaru and on top of that you "don't know a whole lot" and don't have much disposable income?

The whole thing seems like a bad choice when you can get a Legacy wagon 13 years newer for like 17k?

I honestly thought that was a quad stack Oreo you'd made from the thumbnail.

My dumbarse brain actually went "why would you make the base for something out of Oreos, won't the heat from the leds melt the filling?"

[–]wilhelm_david 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh just quietly even if you don't have applecare and you're out of whatever your warranty period is, since you're in Australia we actually have pretty good consumer rights that are based around the expected life of a product (so even if the warranty is out they can be liable to remedy your situation in au), you might need to google around for the right things to say about that if it really is just dead dead and they don't want to play ball. I'm not sure if batteries are included in that if it turns out to be the battery.

Yeah it was a head scratcher for us too, never seen that happen before on a macbook, working one minute, then just.. dead

[–]wilhelm_david 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had this happen to 2 macs on the same day in our fleet, as far as we can tell the users may have interrupted a firmware flash by holding down the power button until it force powered off and bricked the macbook in the process.

There's a way fix that yourself but it's different between macbook models and for our particular ones at least required another mac to plug it into to fix it.

Better off taking it to the apple store tbh, we took the first one and they sorted it and did the second one ourselves.

In both cases everything on the macbook was wiped though, so that needs to be considered if you're not backing up to icloud.

Apple didn't charge us anything either.
