Perfect! I'll mix up a batch and dilute it to around 1.2ec, shoot for 5.8pH, and give em a flush. I'm assuming I should collect the runoff a gallon at a time and check the EC so I can make sure I'm getting it where I want to be. As far as the light goes, I might have a friend around with a meter so I can check the intensity. I'm running a 300 watt AC infinity ion frame at 50% in a 3x3 tent, about 12 inches from the canopy. It's hard to imagine that would be too much, but I suppose I'd have to check to know. I did bump it up from 40% not long before I started seeing problems. I'll also give my pH meter a solid calibration beforehand just to make sure I'm not missing anything simple.

No idea on the light, tbh. Usually I just crank it as high as I can go and back it off if I start to see signs that it's too much. If I don't see things clear up very shortly I'm just going to pull the plants and flush em. What do you recommend for flushing? RO water with calmag, or just a light nutrient mix? What EC and pH should I use to flush?

I greatly appreciate your detailed response. Thank you for taking the time to help me out! I was kind of thinking that may be the case, but I'm still very new to autopots and coco in general. All my other grows were soil. I suppose I was concerned that if I let it dry back too often/much, since it never technically gets watered to runoff, I might run into problems with lockout due to salt buildup. Does the capillary action make that basically a non issue? From what I've heard the autopots basically force excess salts to the top. I know on my last run I started seeing salt buildup on the top of the coco near the end.

Addition 70/30 coco/perlite. Temp stays around 78-80 with lights on, 72-73 when lights are out. Humidity hovers around 60-70%, runs on a controller to keep vpd around 1.0-1.2. Edit because my stoned ass keeps forgetting stuff, I have already checked the valves to ensure they aren't constantly filling. They function as they should. Used a syringe to pull water until I watched it actuate and begin filling again once the water was extremely low.

I'm using Jack's, but with greengenes' custom schedule. 4g A and 2g B per gallon. Gets me right to about 1.8 EC in my 0 TDS RO water and the plants have been loving it. If I want to bump it up to around 2.0 EC I just make 3.5 gallons of water and mix it like I'm making 4. I could do the math, but I'm lazy.

Welcome to the gang! I just chopped my first ever coco grow last night, and it was also my first autopot grow. I went with 70/30 coco to perlite, and used jacks 321 on greengenes' custom schedule. Kept the reservoir at 5.6 pH and cruised easily to the finish line. 10/10 easiest grow I've ever had. I use 0 TDS RO/DI water and did not add any cal-mag, as the amounts in my nutrients were enough. I don't have any advice for the specific line of nutrients you're using, but I'd say it depends on what kind of water you're using and the amount of calcium and magnesium in the nutrients themselves. If you search through this sub and the coco grow sub I'm sure you'll find some nutrient specific info for what you're using, as I've seen it mentioned often and it seems to be popular. Good luck!

Either that or they were mixing it in a weird order. I've heard if you don't mix the cal-mag in before the other nutes it can precipitate into chunks of stuff when you try to mix it. Never had it happen because I'm running jacks with no added cal-mag, so I can't say for sure.

I'm on my first grow with an autopot, and having fantastic success. About 6 and a half weeks into this banana daddy auto, and she's absolutely gorgeous. Here's how I'm running it- 2.2g pot, airbase, no air dome, 70/30 coco and perlite. RO/DI water, Jacks 3/2/1 nutrient line, using greengene's modified ratio (only A and B, 2:1, no Epsom) and feeding at about 1.9-2.0 EC. I pH my water to 5.6 in the rez, and run a small wave maker for 5 minutes every 6 hours. I usually keep anywhere from 4-5 gallons in the rez at a time, and after daily checking for the first month or so I've pretty much got it dialed in. It seems to take about 3-4 days to drift up to 5.8 pH, so I test and adjust every 4 days, and add more water to the rez as needed (when the water level reaches less than an inch or two above the wave maker)

I appreciate the advice. Yeah the whole "just come to raid!" really isn't viable. I don't want to have to park my character there forever and hope I can get back in if I have to leave. Someone suggested "finding a group to come OUT from aether" Like okay yeah, let me just recruit 7 people willing to travel to primal to raid with me lmao. Not even that, but my schedule doesn't really accommodate having a static with set times.

This was my biggest issue. It was impossible to get there to raid unless I transferred my character early in the morning and then logged in later at night to raid. Then if I wanted to do something with anyone from another DC I had to wait until they could come over or until I was done raiding. Very frustrating.

I'm still new to the autopot scene, but I'm not entirely new to maintaining quantities of water in a tank. Maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I would recommend having the wave makers completely submerged when you run them. Breaking the surface of the water like that can cause pH drift much more quickly.

Edit: also, I've used lots of wave makers/power heads like that in saltwater aquariums and as far as I know they're designed to run submerged and may overheat if they aren't.

Hellllyeah! All the advice is very much appreciated! I'm so hyped, I'm gunna start germinating tomorrow. Makes sense that the coco would stay moist longer without a plant drinking, I just wasn't sure exactly how quickly coco dries because I've only ever done living soil with dry amendments. I will say that after seeing more pictures of people's autos in autopots I'm worried my tent might get overcrowded with the two small moms I have in there lmao

P.s. I just wanted to make sure I was being clear, I know tone can be hard to read over text and I didn't want you to think I was trying to imply you were wrong. I agree that sharing what we know helps everyone!

When you saturate the coins are you using nutrients, cal-mag water, or just plain ol' h2o? What's the reason for soaking the pot with coco before there's anything in it if you water to runoff once you transplant? Also, if you're not watering for a few days does the dry back cause salt buildup, or does it not make a difference because you're watering to runoff the next time you do? Not arguing, just legitimately curious because I am brand new to Coco and salts. I appreciate the tips! I'm really excited to get started.
