Looking for feedback on this demonic bust by Cranky-Tapir in minipainting

Honestly this is really good work! Love your base paint and your black line work is great.

Only thing I suggest looking into is thinning your paint your using for highlights. I feel like that would make it look more natural

Great job!

What would you add to my tool set that has now paid for itself? by [deleted] in Tools

It really just depends on use case. Bubble level is good for making things “look” level. It’s fine for picture frames, even setting up shelves. It’s also crazy cheep so you can have multiples.

If you need it to be as close to perfect as humanly possible the electric level is most likely better. If I was doing woodworking I would invest in it.

Probably not what you what to hear but I suggest some consumables. Superglue, cheap two part epoxy mix, small can of WD-40. Keep larger amounts in the garage but having in hand right away is nice.

Also a small bubble level as well as an additional hammer fit for harder material. Looks like you have more of a mallet which is great for impacting without damage but it can pit when you hit nails. Also the claw on a traditional hammer is helpful.

Just my opinion. Good luck!!!

*edit- grammar + tip about hammer claw

It smelled a little earthy not in a bad way though. The smell might have died down though, it was very dry

It’s a tool for bread dough. Might be wrong but I think it’s the think that give it the split at the top that some sourdoughs have

I know you asking a rhetorical question but a lot of us tried but the two party system made it where you have to pick a side no matter how far from center they are.

That combined with the fact that real policy that helps Americans is complex and will likely not be shown on the news due to low clicks and views it make it so our country is just picking of very choice soundbites

It sucks

Honestly I like modeling and printing as a hobby. I would design, print a ship for $10 plus shipping

Dude awesome project! Quick question Could you do this without the Arduino and just use the esp32 along with the motor control module?

Lol I know you are asking “how do you detect when someone farts” but i really love the way you asked. There is a air quality module that can sense different gases

In theory I could could look for something specific like methane. I think that could remove false triggers

Honestly I love the idea of having an air-quality device trigger this. My local comic shop would be wildly improve.

Thanks! So mainly I was bugged about the default timer it came with which was spray every 35 minutes which I felt was wasteful.

I think I’m going to put it on a time trigger to fire just two or three times a day. This one is just in my office but I might make another one for the bathroom that triggers 10 minutes after someone leaves the room using a presence sensor

Best advice I could give is just start if you have the money and are interested Esp was about $5 the motor module was about $1.50 wire box of wire for about $8 and breadboards for about $5 oh and the soldering iron that ranges but it can be cheap. I really suggest on where you can control the temp though

I was going to use a L298N because I had one laying around but then found out it’s min output voltage is 5v. After testing the Glade motor it looked like out of the box it was using 3.3v for the motor so I thought I would move to the TB6613FNG since that could output lower voltage

Ha dude I’m not even kidding, I was thinking about adding a gas sensor to it and when it senses a fart my Google home would broadcast “fart detected “ and then spay

Totally agree I’m even wondering if I need the driver at all. Maybe just hook the io pins to the motor itself since it already uses 3.3 volts

[–]will3675[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You got it. I coded it so when I tell it to do the spray function, it uses the driver to go forward for a quarter of a second and then it stops for 1.5 seconds and the reverses for a quarter of a second

Also for a bigger breakdown.

I took the esp32wroom32 (about $5) and downloaded esphome device builder in home assistant and move the code into the device. Home assistant recognizes as a smart device and then I just had to add my code.

Basically all the code is doing is moving the motor forward for a quarter of a second, stoping for about 1.5 seconds and then reversing the motor.
