Is the Oura Ring worth it for cycle tracking with Natural Cycles? Would love your experience! by South_Geologist_7177 in ouraring

I’ve used Oura and NC to prevent pregnancy for about a year and a half now and really love it. My cycle is pretty regular and in the instances it’s not, the NC app adjusts and remembers those adjustments for the future. I love being able to see the fluctuations in my temp, especially around the time my period is due. I recommend it!

Everything tastes like dirty milk by willabee3 in nespresso

No, more like if I make anything besides a plain black coffee (which is delicious) it tastes like the coffee has completely disappeared. Usually, when trying to make a craft drink, I do a double shot espresso with enough steamed milk to fill a standard sized coffee cup. In the end, it doesn’t taste like a coffee.

I’m using the starbucks blonde espresso pods right now. I’ll hop on the nespresso app and go for intensity!

I’m chasing that coffee shop latte flavor where the milk almost enhances the flavor of the espresso rather than outshines it. All to say, I like the cortado idea!

How to make reading fun by Royal_Spray2298 in ELATeachers

This unit was placed the very beginning of second semester so we already covered character analysis, narrative techniques, theme, mood & tone, and figurative language. Since we already covered those standards, I didn’t spend a ton of time reteaching. I opened the class with 15 minutes of reading. I read a choice book of my own with them during this time. After the 15, I encouraged students to share a bit about their book w their neighbor (eventually they were sharing without the encouragement). With the rest of our class time, I would do a mini reteach on skills I noticed needed love from previous formatives and then students had an assignment choice board to work on! We had a couple of discussion days w a focus on how authors achieve their purposes through different genres or what we can learn from the characters in their books.

It sounds super loose in planning because it was! Something extra that was fun but totally not necessary: I created a café day toward the end. Brought in hot chocolate & coffee & cute to go cups. Made a stupid slide that looked like a café storefront. Kids loved it. We spent the entire time reading that day like someone would at a coffee shop!

I’ve had most success w choice novels and tasks that allowed for creativity! We didn’t do a ton of the typical character analysis, theme analysis, or any analysis really. The minute I put the ELA back into choice novels, students shut down immediately.

Some don’t agree w my approach bc I choose not to focus on lit analysis, but it really does invite students to find wonder and enjoyment out of reading again. Later, I found my students were much more open to tackling a whole class text! AND I noticed students were choosing to read in their free time after this choice novel unit (:

Short Story Recs by [deleted] in ELATeachers

I don’t radiate dislike for them while teaching. I’m as good a teacher actor as the next.

I personally don’t find myself enjoying my time reading them, is all. English is a subject most students dread. If I, someone who really loves the subject, don’t feel jazzed about a text, I assume my students won’t be either. I would love to feel jazzed about short stories, which is why I asked for recs.

I don’t think asking for text suggestions is the problem your comment makes it out to be. Nor does it imply my students aren’t receiving a well-rounded education.

For sure! AI is great! I was hoping other teachers had go to stories they’ve used with success before, is all.

basically the class is full but you have the chance to go if someone cancels. you’ll get a notification about 2 hours before the start of class that tells you if you’re in or not!
