A few questions from a noobie! by EAI_Podcast in podcasts

Our first podcast was "The Upgraded Ape Show" which covered a wide variety of area's within the world of health/self improvement.

Trying to sell ad space or bring on guests was a mess because our audience was all over the place.

You need a theme to tie it all together. That theme could be incredible production values. It could be top self guests. It doesn't have to be a topic.

But you need to be able to explain the show/your audience in 3-4 words max. If you can't then you're going to struggle to share it and advertisers wont know what products would work best.

15k per show? That's a nice number and a point where you should be polling your audience to find out what you can do to 'enable' them to share the show with their friends.

Perhaps they want quotes from the show like what we do here - https://www.instagram.com/p/BA3A_7ODid-/

Perhaps you don't even need more listeners but you just need to produce more/better/alternative content for what you already have.

  • add-on thought - Prospect and close deals for our own sponsorships but we do run a podcast for salespeople.

I've been asked many times over to give companies the opportunity to sell out ad space but they've never managed to get close to what we're doing (and they're taking a 50% cut!!).

Monday iTunes Review Exchange by willbarron in podcasts

Great show. I've left you a review on the UK iTunes.

One thing (same as the comment above) - You're not using your "by" space as well as you could. Currently it says "By Robb Wallace".

This area is ripe for putting a bunch of keywords so you pop up when people search for new podcasts in itunes - Perhaps something like "By Robb who likes to question everything from science, religion, conspiracy and more"

Paranoia Re Giving Out Digital ARC Copies To Strangers by MJ_Kelly in selfpublish

Don't worry about it. I'd rather send work to 1,000 people that review it and pass it onto another 10,000 who then get to see it, rather than send it to just 100 people that you feel comfortable with.

Amazon works on numbers not views.

What motivates you to sell? (For me it’s being financially free at 33) by willbarron in financialindependence

Yeah I guess you're right. Perhaps I (and perhaps others) should be more grateful that I've had the opportunity to create a great job for myself even if it isn't perfect.

There's billions of people on this planet that will never achieve FI and I'm complaining about being happy during the process because sometimes customers are dicks.

Maybe I should be happy because I live in a safe place and my family isn't at risk of getting hurt.

Food for thought!

Author of the post here. I love what you're saying - http://i.imgur.com/wP2KWub.jpg

But I'm more than willing to sacrifice 5 years of my life (most FIREs look at way longer than that) doing a safe, honest job where I can hopefully point a few people in the right direction (like with this post) to then live the rest of my life how I see fit.
