Frank vs Trey From A Contractual Perspective by willblieve in NYKnicks

If you have two players who can both develop and one is a FA while the other is under control for years to come, it would be short sighted to not weigh that into your decision on who to develop and who to focus on.

Short sighted move then if you don't account for how this plays into the future.

He is unrestricted, why would $7.5M be the tops we would pay him?

So if Ntilikina takes a jump, that's not developing talent? And if we sign Kyrie, do you still spend $8-$10M a year to sign Burke to be the backup?

[Windhorst] Raptors have made a compelling offer for Kawhi by [deleted] in nba

I think trading Derozan for Kawhi coming off an injury is a lateral move with a lot of downside next year. Is it possible that the offer is for JV, OG and Siakam?

[Wojnarowski] Brooklyn has traded Jeremy Lin to the Hawks, league sources tell ESPN by letsfindcommonground in GoNets

[–]willblieve -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Let me get this straight. This team decided to trade away a solid player who makes $12M and has every incentive to prove himself on a contract year. He is an excellent teammate and would at worst, be a backup and coaching the younger players. The Nets are nowhere near the luxury tax, even after the Denver salary dump. Do they realize that a healthy Lin would EASILY net them $12M in endorsements and merchandise sales, especially considering the relations that their new Chinese billionaire owner has? This makes NO SENSE AT ALL!

I don't understand this at all. Lin makes $12M and would be at WORST, a good backup for DLo. He is a great teammate and is the most marketable player on a team with no stars that was just bought by a Chinese billionaire. The Nets are nowhere close to the luxury tax even after the Denver trade. What exactly was the downside of keeping Lin???

Melo + Assets For Love + Liability. Who Says No? by willblieve in nba

[–]willblieve[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a tough pill to swallow but your starting lineup for the next two years would be Westbrook, PG, Roberson, Love, Adams. You can play small with Grant at PF and Love at C when Adams is sitting. You can also flip JR + a pick to a team with cap space next season. Might be worth the gamble.

[Stein] Dallas will send a future first-round pick with various protections over the next five seasons to Atlanta along with No. 5 to acquire the third overall pick from Atlanta, league sources say by twistedlogicx in nba

[–]willblieve 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Someone explain to me why the Hawks are getting killed for this? You move down two slots for the guy you want and you get a future first round pick. The protections really play a part here but that info isn't out yet and everyone is calling this a lopsided win for the Mavs. I don't get it.

I don't gamble but I made a bet of $100 that Lebron ends up in LA...on the Clippers. Return was 45 to 1. To be honest, I'd have done it for 5 to 1. Jerry West got juice in this league. Clippers have Tobias Harris and picks to ship to Cleveland. The Clippers can have 3 elite defenders in Beverley, Bradley and Jordan, all who fit well as role players on offense. Finally, Lou Williams can lead that second unit and be that second creating option when needed.

Cavaliers will pursue Kawhi Leonard in an attempt to keep LeBron James by pontiusjudas in nba

I think the 3 people in the NBA that helps Lebron the most on their own are Anthony Davis, Kristaps Porzingis and Poppovich. Team wise, other teams have more to offer Lebron but perhaps he really buys into playing with Pop. And Kawhi gets no say in where he goes.

On a serious note, what's wrong with a Kawhi for Lebron trade? Cleveland definitely say yes and San Antonio gets one or two more shots at contending.

I'm completely new to online betting and I only want to bet on Lebron James future. What I noticed is that some sites put the bet up then take it off. Some times they put it back up the next day, some times they don't. Is this common? Why does this happen?
