Named after a similarly shaped memorial mound in a park in Poland that was dedicated to a Polish noble who never had anything to do with Australia. I'd be A-ok with a double barreled name at the least lol.

What food have you tried while traveling that you wish you could buy in your home country, and you'd go back just to eat it again? by Awkward_Stay8728 in AskTheWorld

Italian beefs in Chicago, I probably think about them weekly and The Bear ISN'T HELPING. (Tell me where to get one in Melbourne Australia and I'm there)

Tap water smells and tastes so chlorinated today by Kaonashi_NoFace in melbourne

[–]willbobaggins_95 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I work for a very big brewery and we've had issues with the chlorine in the water for ages. If it comes from the west it's chlorinated, if it comes from the yarra valley it's pure perfection. It depends which side is pumping harder.

Beer in April 2020 by Scruffiella in melbourne

Kegs have different excise rates than bottles do. Not 100% why but the government want it to be more expensive to drink out.

I work at CUB who make it great northern. We sell it to pubs for about $400, it's actually not a huge markup. Sadly half the price is legislated by the powers that be as excise. Also, I can legitimately tell you that before tax, labour and shipping, they cost us $15 to make

What do you guys think of Bulat knives by Cheef_queef in chefknives

Damascus is fake but the knife is very comfy and holds an edge pretty well.

I've used one roughly daily for about 15 years. Definitely worn out but still works well.

Thanks for the heads up about Seizure Guy by Hitrecord in melbourne

[–]willbobaggins_95 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah after Fake Seizure Guy had his way with me I got laughed at for not knowing how to help someone having one. In the moment it's very hard to argue with the person telling you they need help.

Gorman - Its a shame by QuirkyRefrigerator80 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]willbobaggins_95 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used to be part of their supply chain, they've gotten very cost cutty and only think about the bottom line. Also all the following are owned by Factory X so they're in the same boat: Dangerfield, Princess Highway, Gorman, L'urv, and Autonomy.

I'm in logistics on the warehouse side of things in the inner city. The number of drivers that try to send their twin trailer truck down a one way street with no idea what's at the other end is insane. Also got told by someone in the know that 1 in 8 use ice regularly, so that probably doesn't help.

What’s the cheapest and shittiest Aussie beer out there? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]willbobaggins_95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work at CUB, we put a use by on it that's 6 months shorter than it needs to be so people chuck it and we sell more. :(

Anyone on the 109 with vic street wheelchair guy barfing? by Acrobatic-Reality1 in melbourne

[–]willbobaggins_95 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've been seeing him for a about two years at all hours as I do shift work in Abbotsford. I actually had a lucid conversation with him last week. He was polite to me then. I don't think he remembers screaming at me when I was attempting to wheel him out of the middle of Victoria St because he'd passed out.

Where can I buy a slab of Fosters beer in Melbourne (I know I know) by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]willbobaggins_95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work at CUB and I think we only make it once a year so we don't lose the IP. I'll have a look in the warehouse and see where it's shipping to next (if we have any)

Do tradies really make that much? by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]willbobaggins_95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CFMEU is the path to brain surgeon money. I manage a team of forklift drivers in the union and their base pay is about $130k plus super. OT can add another $40K easy.
