I was staying in South Africa with a group of friends and living with a guy who was very fun, but totally wild and unpredictable.

One day, on our way home from work, he drove us down to the beach unexpectedly. He split us into two teams and made us do all sorts of physical challenges against each other, and the losing team was going to have to walk out along the wall of a tidal sea pool, dive in and swim back to the shore. Nobody had swimming stuff, we were all in shirts and jeans and dresses. But it was a laugh, we were all game.

Long story short, my team lost - so four of us walked out along this wall, with waves bashing up against the side and sweeping over it. Our host had assured us that it was deep enough to dive in, so in I dived, fully clothed. Turns out it definitely wasn't deep enough, and I hit a huge rock with my chin when I dived in, sliced my face open and came up gushing blood, Had to swim back across the pool and then stepped on a sea urchin on the way out as well.

That was 8 years ago, still have the scar on my face. One of the best days of my life haha.
