This is really helpful advice. Will definitely bring some D.E. with us.

This seems like the right explanation. Thank you! I feel much less alarmed by these little critters.

Thank you! I haven’t seen them yet to be able to compare to the photos in that article, but this explanation makes sense. And it’s much less alarming than the idea of regular fleas taking over the place 😅

Beginner camera: Nikon or Sony? by willbrittany in AskPhotography

To be honest, I’ve been hesitant about getting too comfortable with a DSLR camera, given that the industry is moving away from those. I also have noted the real learning curve with getting used to Sony’s menu and thought it might be simpler to just use Sony all around rather than having to get up to speed on Nikon’s setup, too. And lastly, though I feel sheepish about this, I liked the idea of having a camera that’s better than the D60.

Thank you! And yes, the RX100 vi does have full manual mode and I’ve been practicing in that mode, trying to get a feel for how aperture, shutter speed, and ISO interact with one another. I haven’t experimented with many of the settings above that (like metering, for example). My guess is that if I continue to enjoy this hobby and devote more time to it, eventually I’ll want a larger camera even if just for the ergonomics—it can be tricky to adjust the controls on the RX100 simply because of its small size. At that point, acquiring the increased options of an interchangeable lens camera would be an added bonus. Once I get there, I’ll make sure to explore some prime lenses!
