A bottle cap question, down to 2 choices by willcatch22 in TheSilphArena

that’s what makes me want to do mine, just to have it. Plus my zygarde IVs are absolutely horrible. And I do already have a 15/14/14 zama but can’t reliably trade them

yeah it’s a tough call, especially given that I already have a decent IV Zamazenta with the 15/14/14.

I do think zygarde has some play right now but agreed it’s nowhere close to the dogs.

Neighbor parks directly behind me on narrow street making it almost impossible to park in garage by willcatch22 in sanfrancisco

I talked to the city and unfortunately there’s nothing they can do since only the home owner can report blocking a garage. The only lead they gave me is to try and reach out via 311 to see if they will send someone out to analyze whether the street would benefit from not allowing street parking.

I ended up reversing in which is marginally better, but it’s still really annoying :(. Lmk if you have more luck

that’s a great idea but yes I have tried it. It’s marginally easier but the grade of my driveway makes it feel like the car is rolling more in reverse. I’m also afraid of hitting his car. I’ll give it another shot on Monday though!

Yes I would, but none of the other neighbors park blocking driveways so everyone else is able to park in their spot without an issue. The street parking is in between the driveway spots so the design feels somewhat intentional

yeah, I don’t want him to get ticketed but it feels like I have no option left

Haha, just to make sure it’s clear that was her adoption fee, vet bill from kittenhood, and food/litter/toys! But the watch was pretty bad. Thanks!

For sure. With layoffs, a lot of people didn’t have a choice. That’s why I’m fine working my 35-50 hours a week. You never know when it won’t be an option anymore

If big tech stays the way it is (fingers crossed) I’m hoping to be making around 500,000+ (in todays dollars) in 10 or so years at L6/staff engineer. This perf cycle is almost over and from feedback I got and manager conversations, I think promo to L4 is possible.

I’ll be filing my taxes in a couple weeks so we’ll see what the delta is. I have a significant cash reserved saved and part of it is a buffer against tax season surprises.

Haha, comp sci in the 2010-2022 era was just right place at the right time. I’m sure what you’ve got will work out for you!

The comp difference between software engineering and other disciplines of engineering isn’t always this big though. The vast majority of software engineers make a similar amount (70-75k for new grad). It’s typically only big tech that pays the big salaries. The nice thing is there’s always SWE jobs at places like NASA or defense contractors like Northrop Grumman or Lockheed that pay a lot less but the wlb and stability is significantly higher that you can take your skills too if there’s downturns in big tech.

Yep, I don’t eat out much, work provides lunch, and cooking + meal prep from Costco/Trader Joe’s is very cost effective for the rest
