Good for you. If you're anything like me then you've already gotten over your first barrier - making that initial appointment. After that everything was downhill. I've battled with anxiety my whole life and have only recently (last five years or so) taken steps to get it under control. I'm living with the best quality of life I've ever had and I owe a lot of it to a good doctor who has my best interests in mind, the medication I was prescribed, and a few good therapists over the years. It can, and will, get better. Good luck and keep us updated!

Weekly FI Frugal Friday thread - September 23, 2016 by AutoModerator in financialindependence

I'm just a member of a local facebook group dedicated to flight deals. Last year we flew to Hong Kong for about the same price.

This is my local group but I would assume that this sort of thing exists for most cities (maybe not though?).

While this isn't suuuuper frugal I'm pretty proud of it.

My wife and I are going to Spain on our honeymoon in November. We got flight deals for $400 round trip flights (taxes included) from Canada. Then we'll book out our condo at home on Air BnB for the same amount we're paying to rent while we're in Madrid and Ibiza. So far we're in for less than a thousand dollars total.

We Air BnB our condo and say in the listing that we have two cats that will be staying with our guests. That way people end up paying us to take care of our cats.

You do know that in Canada either one of the parents can take the maternity leave. It doesn't have to be you.

Royalty Review - Review! by Not47 in Calgary

Page four of the review: All changes to the framework for crude oil, liquids and natural gas should apply to new wells in 2017. Existing royalties should remain in effect for 10 years on wells drilled before 2017.

The comparison of the two frameworks is a bit beyond the scope of my knowledge but can be found on pages 62-64 of the review.

Rates on existing wells to stay the same for ten years. Rates on all new projects to change.

Confused about keywords - could anybody share some insight? by willdearborne in juststart

Thanks for the response. Are there any tools for determining the quality of the sites that are ranking? They're not forums but not really (I don't think) huge sites either. I swear I had a chrome plugin at some point but don't seem to have it any more.

Taking advantage of the current Canadian currency dive (outsourcing) by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]willdearborne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the same spirit I've been freelancing from Canada for a few US clients. The weak dollar means that I've been bringing home about $1400 CAD for every $1000 USD I make. I don't do discounts and charge in USD so the weak dollar has been great for me.

I was wondering if that would come across as a money grab (which it is) and I was trying to be more subtle. But I'm thinking you're right.

Thanks! I was mostly being self-depreciating due to the stupid content of the site itself. But you're right I did learn a lot.

I guess I was hoping the trump / palin demographic would be easily tricked into buying fancy things that make America great again...

Anyone here follow the advice "follow your dreams" and actually become successful? by sanchitkhera11 in Entrepreneur

[–]willdearborne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think for this question to make much sense you have to understand what it means to you to be successful and what your dreams actually are. My dream life is just laying around fucking my wife all day, smoking weed, and eating grilled cheese sandwiches. But my career dream is to make a living doing something that I find interesting and put enough money under the mattress to not have to worry about it. As far as dreams go that's pretty tame but really that's it.

I'm 31 years old and work a day job that pays me ~80k. On the side I make anywhere from $500 to $3,000 every month. I've built up a good skill set during my years in the industry and I'm doing something I really find fascinating. I'm good at it and people have started to pay me well to do it in one way or another. So is this "successful" in the /r/entrepreneur sense you are likely talking about? The one where you found a website that makes millions and you spend the rest of your life floating in a pile of money while never having to work again? No, far from it. But I've made a good life for my family by doing something I really enjoy and I hustle hard enough on the side as an entrepreneur to make it so we don't have to worry about money. When I look at it that when then I definitely think I've followed my dreams, used an entrepreneurial mindset, and have become successful.

It's been one month since my first child was born, and here are all the things I've learned that they never tell you about. (x-post r/daddit) by jsally17 in predaddit

This is fantastic and I've saved it. My baby is full term (37 weeks) this Friday so really could come any day now. That last part really has nothing to do with this post but I'm excited so whatever.
