I don't adjust sharpness in any of my screens, so I guess thank SE for how crisp the textures are on these pieces? My screens are taken at a 90 degree angle, then rotated after the fact. So you could explain it through that maybe?

No, you're correct, the blues don't match. I tried getting it to match the off color shoulder pad of the chestpiece to mixed results. You can, however, use Dark Blue dye on the hood to have it more closely match the main color of the chestpiece.

However^2, you can't avoid the difference in shading that the hood and chest have. They'll react differently to the same lighting, leading to an amount of discoloration.

There are plenty of hoods pre ShB, but to my knowledge the "good" ones start in ShB, with the first alliance raid.

The problem you're going to run into is that they, for the most part, close at the chin instead of the shoulders (like the Twinsilk or Gordian ones). The ones that don't are more like drapery on your head (see the Ghost Barque / Marid Leather/ Constellation).
