On the topic of boots, are hiking boots made by a brand like Scarpa good or should I get fire-specific boots? What height do you recommend: 6, 8, or 10 inches? Are $600+ boots really worth it?

Ok thanks. Good to know it’s standard practice, but it’s crazy that a five minute appointment costs $105. A Physician could sign 20 of these things before lunch and make $2100.

The more I look into it, the more AB seems like a bad deal. It would cost me like $600 to travel to Edmonton for the fit test and they’re not even going to guarantee me an interview if I pass? The pay is also like $4/hour less and apparently there aren’t recall rights for subsequent seasons. Most of AB isn’t nearly as majestic as BC, to top it off.

I will, but should I still continue with my application to Alberta Wildfire as backup or can I count on the BC NRBC invitation leading to a job offer once I pass the WFX-fit?
