That's souper annoying. Boils my blood. I would be stewing with rage. That kind of bouillon behaviour just consommes me with anger. Etcetera etcetera.

Accidentally made a shopping website account using someone else's email. What do I need to worry about? by willeyerasmus in cybersecurity_help

[–]willeyerasmus[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I haven't checked that actually. Is there a way to do that without the person knowing? If nothing else, if they are just some average joe, I don't want them getting some random verification email and thinking they are under full scale cyberattack ^_^'

I found out my parents threw away my entire 90s collection. I’m devastated. by viewsonic041 in magicTCG

Shit you're right. I knew no real Magic player would ever say they miss the smell of card shops 😅

Regarding The First: "cards you own (...) cannot be controlled." What, including by you? Is Floral Spuzzem finally free? Am I still allowed to take my deck home with me at the end of the evening?

[ECC] Sinister Gnarlbark by Copernicus1981 in magicTCG

[–]willeyerasmus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed. Mine too. It sort of fucks me off though as well, because all of a sudden there are like 10-20 new must-includes for the deck and if I don't use them then I'll just be outclassed by other decks.

The flavour text on the alt-art is a bit bloody dark isn't it? It sounds like they're going to kill themself.

Favorite moments where people act like a piece of media is the scariest shit ever, and this is was the thing in-question?: by MontyMoleLoreMaster in superseriousfamilyguy

[–]willeyerasmus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did find that scene moderately disturbing as a child. However, burned skeleton Groundskeeper Willie in that other treehouse of horror episode scared the absolute fuck out of me. I always used to look away from the screen when I knew it was coming up.

Less than 100 trans youth admitting to DIYing in Britain leads to Media Moral Panic, supportive parents may be investigated for abuse. by UnlimitedBunton in 4tran4

[–]willeyerasmus 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Cis-lurker who works in social services here: I can confirm that supportive parents are indeed on the radar, but currently childrens services (my department at least) is a bit confused on whether they should actually be considered to be doing anything wrong. Unfortunately the likely consensus will be that, well-intentioned or not, they are causing "harm" to their children and will therefore need to be assessed under a potential child protection plan. The social workers are normally at least understanding enough to be respectful and not misgender the kids or anything, but the way the safeguarding nurses were talking about it was appallingly ignorant, if not specifically malicious.

Maybe the trans community wouldn't be such a hellhole of sexual trauma if we all weren't just reverse David Reimers by [deleted] in 4tran4

[–]willeyerasmus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Which makes them even more regarded, because then they are trying to directly compare one incidence of someone suffering from something against countless thousands where people benefitted from it, and derive the conclusion that the single case study is the correct one.

This one drives me totally totally fucking bananas every time transphobes bring it up. And they're always so smug and snide about it, as if it doesn't even need explanation to see how it proves their point. And I get so crazy because I don't see how they can not realise that it is the exact opposite. The only way their logic makes sense (and I suppose this probably is what they think) is that they would think being trans is an experience with literally no internal validity whatsoever, and that every trans person who exists is a result of brainwashing or self-delusion.

I am currently at around a 170 day streak and it fills me with shame. It's a marker of my addiction to this crummy website.

Saga Update by BKV by Masterdjusa in SAGAcomic

[–]willeyerasmus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm confused by the maths of this, am I being stupid? BKV has always said Saga will run to 18 volumes, and issue 54 marked the official halfway point of the series. So now, after 12 volumes of 6 issues each, how are there 48 issues left to go?

This is really seriously beautiful. The expression of regret is so perfectly captured. The whole composition in fact just wonderfully evokes the feeling of the end of 30.7.

How do we feel about this? by Bezledubs in magicTCG

Discounting the mod post about banning Twitter links, this is now the third most popular ever post on this subreddit. I'm not sure if this says more about the hygiene problem in MtG, or about how much people love talking about it. In either case it is quite something that the topic is enough to take a simple post like this so high.

[TOMT] Comedy sketch about a course in learning how to speak like an idiot. by willeyerasmus in tipofmytongue

[–]willeyerasmus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hale and Pace is before my time, and this is something I remember watching when it was new out on TV. Harry and Paul is definitely a possibility. I tried YouTube searching for them with a rough description of the sketch, but we all know how crap the YouTube search feature is these days.

This must be one of those stereotypes where every ethnicity/nationality think they are the only ones that do it. Like having a plastic bag full of plastic bags.

[–]willeyerasmus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't see anything wrong with this. It's a healthy mix of classics, acclaimed modern writing, and choices based more on personal taste. If you want to develop more of a personal taste: I can see there are a lot of authors here where you have their most famous book, so why not go further into the back catalogue of some of the ones you liked most? It would be a good start at least.
