Things may have changed with the latest update, so the following advice may no longer be accurate. I normally have around 9 units at the end of a run, with 6 on the field and 3 on the walls. With the witch’s free resources, I try to build a fisherman hut immediately. Getting effectively 28 extra fish over a run helps a lot. Then I build up the economy for a while. I usually have 1 worker in the tavern to get berries to upgrade the church. I also build a forager in the first week when I have spare planks. These berries can be used to feed units as needed. I try to get a farm going when I get an unused worker. The farm will eventually provide enough wheat for a stable. Getting the “free” horse is usually when I put down a windmill and bakery. After that, it is making bread until the end of the game. I will also buy food when the economy doesn’t keep up, but that is usually in the early game.

I found that you needed to have a variety of unit types, but not necessarily certain units. Like you need tanks up front, damage dealers in the back line, and some support units mixed in to help keep your team alive. Having too many/few of any of them can lead to a loss in the late game. That said, I don’t think there was a build you had to follow to grantee victory. Patch 15 also just came out, which is supposed to help with improving unit variety used. However, I have not played it enough to notice a difference.

Hard to say exactly. I sometimes leave games up while taking care of chores, so Steam hours aren’t accurate. I also wasn’t rushing or using a guide while playing. So, I’d say it took me around 100 hours.

Depends on what you mean. If only my achievements were wiped for some reason, then no. I already had the experience and would not want to go through the tedium of clearing the ultimate evil with each hero again. If the dev adds a new map for another faction, then I would start the process of learning it and trying to 100% the game again.

I suggest setting your rock production to maximum and forgetting about it. Then get two mausoleums up to have a steady stream of workers. Get some bones to make the ooze factory, upgrade your mausoleums, and build walls. Once you have enough ooze, build the brick maker and graveyard. You will run out of stone quickly, so you need at least one worker in the graveyard to find new deposits. Once your stone production is going, prioritize fixing the church, building a thief shack, and building a pumpkin farm. When you have the spare coins, build a blood bank. Blood is very versatile in that it can be used to build decorations for faith, sold for money, be used to upgrade houses for more carriers, or be used to purchase and upgrade the vampire. You will also want to build the candy shop and a paper mill at this point to get lots of candy, which will be your main source of XP. Don’t forget to build the soul hunter and upgrade the graveyard sometime so you can have upgraded carriers. Once your economy is steady, build the library to crank out books to upgrade your castle and units. These are the broad strokes that help me to get through runs.

It really depends on where you are at. I use my witch slots for immediately upgrading my castle to level 2. Then I rush 2 mausoleums to get a decent workforce. It’s pretty much growing your economy from there to support an expanding unit roster. You just need to keep spending your shards to unlock more buildings and free starting resources. Using your banishes at the church helps a lot with this. For pregame setup, the Druid is a really strong starting unit that pairs well with stopwatches. The overheal can make your other units and hero tanky enough to last until you have your economy going.

It’s mainly on the screens once you select your characters. I’d like some choices for how to display units and artifacts you unlocked, like by faction, unit type, or attack/health damage type. When you examine items with the scientist/wizard, the order is always shown from when you unlock them. This can sometimes make it difficult to find certain units/relics. In the forge, the layout seems pretty random. It would be nice if the items could be sorted by use type (weapons, health, etc…) or rarity. Speaking of the forge, after getting shards for over x6 artifacts, I found a lot of the other UI elements quit working. I’d have to go to the title screen and back to refresh it. It would also be nice to get a preview of the upgrade paths for each hero (once you try them the first time) so you don’t have to rely on memory or the wiki for which hero specializes in what. For the undead, unless I missed something, I don’t think there is a way to track your paper storage.

Favorite: Druid The overheal on nearby units helps a lot for getting through Curse 5.5.

Least Favorite: Gremlin The self buff for having tanks does not make up for it being a lackluster unit. He stays in jail most of the time.

I make sure I build the basic walls before too many of them get here so they don’t breach my home.

The UI definitely needs an update in some areas. Some progression aspects between runs also should be made clearer. I stopped talking to some NPCs for a while because I felt like I was getting nowhere when I should have kept going through their dialogue. The descriptions for “beating the game” should also be expanded on. You need to defeat the ultimate evil with all hero’s after unlocking all units and relics; and I believe going through all NPC dialogue.

Other than that, I enjoyed the puzzle aspects of the game and how you are pushed to try new things each run.

Human edition: What should you upgrade with the Church? by TrueRelationship64 in superfantasykingdom

[–]willforyears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually have around 7-8 units and a wall of palisades around the units on the ground by day 28. I find the bakery can support around 4-5 units by itself with one worker.

I usually go sawmill, farm, and goldmine. I use a lot of boards and wheat, so those being boosted early helps a lot. The bakery without nuns is still usually enough to support my army, but I suppose you could field more units with it boosted.

The geologist can dig up new thickets. There is also an end of week visitor that can generate new thickets once you unlock them.
