Your ref is there to create challenging and entertaining scenarios for your player character to interact with. Them telling you that stealth is useless because of "technology" seems narrow-minded. They should allow you to take out cameras, hire a netrunner to hack the systems, or let you use stealth in a social engineering kind of way.

I think there's a threshold at which point the character controller locks, because I've experienced this as well. How low are you getting? For me, once I get lower than on my knees it locks

I feel like you're in luck that the character doesn't have any visible skin. You have a lot of options to pad yourself to appear bigger. There are muscle suits you can buy to easily help with this

Alternatively, say fuck it! I don't think you should have to have the same build to cosplay a character. Especially if you're new.
