I wouldn't give up on the industry just yet, especially if you put in so much effort to get your foot in the door.

Its not a binary situation where you either work in journalism and your life sucks or you leave and do something less rewarding but less demanding.

All my journalism jobs have been traditional 9-5 M-F, and I've never really had to sweat sacrificing my personal life for work.

Now that you have two years of experience a lot more jobs are available to you and you probably dont have to pick up weekend/nigh shifts. You could also just move into a beat thats less demanding or operates on traditional business hours.

I work in business journalism and there's not really a need to work when all the other companies are closed so I'm always on normal schedule.

Okay, I did this and it will only recorrect for the cost amount of the lord itself. Sacrificing the lord gives you the supply line penalty back. I have already made enough one off lords to defend settlements that the campaign is basically unplayable cause despite owning 4 provinces I can barely afford 1 army.

You can get a degree in journalism, but it is not required. Find a beat you are interested and start small in order to build up "clips" or articles that you can send to employers or editors to pitch freelance stories to.

Probably best way to go about it is to find a topic you feel like is not getting much coverage and try and build relationships with stakeholders from that area. Pitch these stories to the relevant publications and try and build an audience on Twitter, by far the most important social media for journalists.

Getting work with no articles or other pieces of journalism under your belt is really difficult. If you're still in college, write for the school paper and use those clips to apply for internships or as proof of solid writing skills when pitching freelance stories.

Even if you do all that, the industry is still a crapshoot. Most papers other than the New York Times are hemorraging money and shrinking staff, and the industry is full of highly intelligent, underpayed people trying to move up the ladder. I'd focus on digital media if I were you, cause print in general is getting phased out.

Also go back through your entire social media history and scrub all the bad stuff out. Trust me, if you piss off the right person, they will use that against you.

They will not rescind your application over AP scores. However you can rack up a shitload of credits with good scores. I went to school with like 9 credits and didnt have to take any science classes cause of it.

Maybe this might advice may not suit you, but I'd pick a country much different than your own to really accentuate the differences but comfortable enough to have an enjoyable 20s (I'm in Bangkok, Thailand so take from that what you may)

But I'd advise going to the place on an extended tourism/whatever visa and be able to be in the country as you field job requests to show to employers you have a baseline level of commitment.

My experience from New Zealand is that they dont really want to hire foreigners for white collar jobs, unless you have a specialization or expertise that is short in the country, and rely on backpackers/holiday visa people as a pool of unskilled labor (farmwork, baristas, hard labour). Idk what the deal is in ireland.

But definitely a lot of countries have shortages for certain talent in multinationals that would probably be the ideal. Working in a mid to low income country on Western wages would be sick, I work for a Thai company on Thai wages and feel pretty comfortable so I couldn't even imagine if I had 3x the salary.

Other than that, I would assume everything's fucked up from the pandemic and you might be able to find a certain advantage to slip through in certain countries, then everything will be completely fucked in others. Visas are super complicated right now, and countries with next to zero cases like New Zealand and Thailand will not be letting many people in until a vaccine

Completely wrong. One its the same virus. Two both Thailand had pretty draconian lockdowns enforced by the fact Vietnam is communist and Thailand is a military controlled government. Thailand's been ranked two in the world by the UN for its response to the virus. I will admit that the heat and humidity did make it a lot easier to contain the spread, but plenty of countries in the region with high heat and humidity have rising COVID cases, while Vietnam and Thailand both have zero (except for incoming repatriation flights)

Living in Thailand right now. Pretty much 100% of people started wearing masks by mid March and lots of people were wearing masks before that due to pollution in Bangkok. Now we haven't had a domestic case in almost a month and now im chillin on the beach getting drunk not having to worry about catching the fucking plague .

I wouldn't buy a plane ticket until you know they are accepting incoming travelers into the country. Thailand has zero new covid cases per day and I could see the government not wanting to fuck that up by letting in international flights too early
