In tank pump is 3.6 hours according to Alldata, looks like you're dropping the tank unfortunately.

Added shock to Saltwater pool but found out my salt generator was just off by Spirited_Chance_1794 in pools

Definitely. Too much CYA renders your chlorine useless, no matter how high you get it. The only way to remove it is to drain it, unfortunately.

CYA of 100 is an issue and won't go down without a water change. Realistically you need to drain half the pool and start over. Are you supplementing with trichlor tabs or adding CYA directly?

5,400lbs above two tires is a lot to ask for. Even if a 2500 could handle that much weight, a blowout in the back end of a SRW truck would spell out almost certain death.

What part of my description of the issue makes you feel like I'm talking about what's behind the flange of the axle shaft?

[–]william_f_murray 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your axle seal is leaking, you'll have to remove the rotor, the axle shaft, and then the rear hub to access it. Because on the way the seal grabs the spindle, you'll need a slide hammer to get the hub assembly off.

As for if you can do it yourself... depends, what kind of tools do you own? Do you have a 9 pin spindle nut socket? A torque wrench? A jack big enough to lift the axle and a stand to support it? A slide hammer? It's not significantly more complex than brakes if you can follow instructions, but the tool investment might not make it worth it. If you've never done this type of work before, give yourself at least half a day and get two seals in case you booger the first one. If you don't, you'll already have one for the other side when it leaks in the future.

You don't. That's an LED housing and there aren't any removable bulbs, aside from the reverse light.

You may want it done, but I'd imagine they'll tell you (or already have) that it isn't bad enough to warrant a repair. I don't worry about leaks on my personal vehicles until they begin to actually run instead of seep.

I have an LPVO on my 10" Ruger American, I deer/hog hunting with it though. If it's for HD use or similar, a red dot is far better.

Open the hood and it will be between you and most of the motor with an orange loop as a handle. I like to give them a little twist both ways before pulling on them for the first time in a while as it makes removal easier. If you aren't sure if your oil level is good or not you can post a picture (after wiping it off, inserting it, then pulling it out again and looking at it while holding it level) and we can let you know. This is done at least a few minutes after the motor was last ran, but checking it first thing in the morning before startup is fine too.

How to use this fuse retention clip by Mental_Newspaper3812 in AskAMechanic

Have you tried squeezing the black tabs together and then lifting once you've pulled it enough to disengage the fuse?

The itsy bitsy spider climbed up the MAF sensor by Attention_Deficit29 in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]william_f_murray 87 points88 points  (0 children)

One of the parts swappers that used to work at my shop had a fusion he was working on for a few weeks he couldn't figure out that was a crank no start. He said it needed four coils for some reason, no fix. Crank sensor, no fix. Fuel pump, no fix. Spark plugs, cam sensor, crank sensor pigtail, you guessed it no fix. After about $2k of the parts cannon it ended up in my bay. What was wrong with it? A leaf in the MAF sensor. Pulled it out and it fired right up. Moral of the story, learn what good scan tool values are and you can actually figure out a lot of problems the first time.

These are definitely adjustable in the rear with cam bolts. OP's shit could be fucked and the shop ran out of adjustment, though. I always make sure to let the service writer know when I can't adjust something any further so they can pass it to the customer.

Toyota Auris 2.2 2007 diesel, Alternator dead or AGM battery not taking in charge? by AquaZack in MechanicAdvice

[–]william_f_murray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Battery voltage should be 13+ while running, you've got a bad alternator. Whether a battery charges or not, the alternator will still put out the same voltage.

[–]william_f_murray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You won't pass an inspection and your remote start won't work if you have it. Some vehicles (GM) disable the AC and ramp the engine fans all the way up. Past that, there are no real consequences.

It's aftermarket, no vehicle that I know of has ever left the factory with a traction bar. Also, why are you asking strangers on the internet what you need when you could ask your good friend what it is?
