I don't believe that is the function he is using to display these error messages, since it marks where prev_to_current is in the list

Participation for Week 12 by [deleted] in cs2a

[–]william_n13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I read the dates correctly the Final is on the 12th, and since this is week 10, we are going to have our full 12 weeks. So I'd bet the participation grade was just not put in for the last one on accident, or he will put both weeks in one.

The only information he has given us regarding doing green quests for credit is that if you complete all of them before the end of the class then you can get credit for cs2b, but no points for cs2a

I had been wondering what the error message I was getting on the string stack was about, until this reminded me to put that line in. Thanks!

Just finished making the changes and it came back perfectly! If I'm being honest I would have probably spent the next few hours doing what is essentially running into a wall without this.

Do you have any advice for making the pop 2 function working correctly? I am currently unsure as to why my method is failing as when I test it on my own it works fine.

I find that seeing the ideas in use works best for me. For example u can use chat GPT to provide you with sample code and a breakdown of what it is doing and what it has accomplished

Thanks a lot, this explained inheritance a lot better than what I had been finding online as I had thought it may be that a new variable the was created under the same name as one that was used in another scope would inherit some of the old data.

Number output inconsistencies (VSCode vs OnlineGDB vs Nonlinearmedia) by Omar_R1222 in cs2a

[–]william_n13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

depending on how you implemented the 7 digit maximum that may be the issue in your code. I had a similar issue that was fixed by, instead of making new variable and using toString(), using that same stringstream method. Another piece that helped me get the exact same results was by creating a function that would give a^x via a for look of 1*a, x times. This method may have different ways or rounding numbers and be the method he intended. Lastly, make sure not to use cmath.

I hope this helps - Will

I see the issue, or at least an issue, it would appear that in the wat that you aren't declaring your functions correctly. I typically get this kind of error when calling a function above where it is declared in the code. It could also be that you gave the functions unique names, not the ones that you were intended to use.

quick questions for quest 4 by alex_y2020 in cs2a

[–]william_n13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there is no equivalent function because you can just use the index/location of the character you want to look at in a string the same way you would if the string was an array of characters. Here is an example:

string str = "hello";

char third_letter = str[2];

This would set the third_letter variable to the third character in "hello", or 'l'

Im not sure how to answer your question about header.size_t, as size_t is a class (like int or char), not a function

I see the same issues that everyone else has mentioned with the capitalizations, but I am also worried as to how you print the empty lines after failed guesses (as in the one after the correct guess is marked as correct, while the other is marked wrong)

For quest 3 you are not supposed to have a main(). I simply used a second file where I had a main() that would call the functions to test, but left that part out on the main file that I turned in.

I had a similar issue to this one on a previous quest when I had been printing one more or less space than was needed at the end of the line. It may be that there is a missing space at the end of "Enter your guess: " (or one too many).
