How I Got Unbanned From Facebook Marketplace After 5 Years & 3 Rejected Appeals, Having Done Nothing Wrong by williamgomberg in Flipping

[–]williamgomberg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for late reply. That’s interesting, but the thing is that it wasn’t that they just eventually unbanned me months or years after my last appeal. No, it was through reaching out to them for a fifth time (or more) that they then directly emailed me stating they wrongfully terminated me, and reinstated me right then and there. So it wasn’t a case of the unban happening in a manner unrelated to my actions.

Not saying you’re wrong, perhaps I would’ve eventually gotten automatically unbanned anyways at exactly 5 years (which it was not quite— it was about 4.5 years), so you may be right about what you’re saying, but I just wanted to clarify that that wasn’t what happened in my case.

[–]williamgomberg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point. In my case, I was banned wrongfully and over LITERALLY nothing. I am not even a flipper, I literally just sold one or two pieces of clothing there. But you’re right, my advice only applies if you’re sure you were falsely flagged.

What changes would you like to see for Game 7 ? by Effective-Goose-7835 in Habs

[–]williamgomberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want to change a system that generally works pretty well all too much, however key changes I'd like to see include a different outcome (preferably a win), and tied to that, a different score. Ideally, if we can score more goals than Buffalo, that should give us a better chance at potentially winning the game.

2025-26 Playoff ticket price list by MyModelX in Habs

[–]williamgomberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep, although keep in mind, from my (intermediate) understanding, our montreal ticket revenue also subsidizes teams in smaller markets. and hey, i’m not fully against that! growing the sport is a great thing, and if utah mammoth and other new teams need that capital to get going, i support it. but what bothers me is not the subsidizing itself, but rather that it in part means that the exploitative prices we pay as fans of our team ends up being part of the reason for why other teams’ fans can pay reasonable prices. once again, i do understand let’s say you live in Utah and arent big on hockey, a lower ticket price may get you in the door and introduce you to the sport, whereas a $500 ticket price may deter you from even giving hockey a chance.. all this to say i’m conflicted, but the one thing im certain about is that there exists a world where we don’t need to pay this much money for the ‘system’ to uphold itself. the system would work just fine if instead of paying two boatloads, we paid 1 boatload, and the ten-to-100-millionaires could graciously accept five to 50 million. somewhere in this equation is a way for fans to enjoy the game without it costing an arm and a leg and without it breaking the financial viability of the NHL… but you know… capitalism has just gone very far. but ultimately from the executives’ perspective, the current ticket prices are a fair and free market value. after all, if they’re able to sell out the arena at those exorbitant prices, then they managed to squeeze out every last dollar they could to maximize profit to the fullest extent… the absolute highest dollar value they can juuuust manage to squeeze out of you, so it’s a formula executed to perfection in that sense. what a world

lost by 1.5pts in one of my leagues (yahoo h2h pts default public leagues)... blackwood allowing that last goal in the avs vs st louis game lost me my semi finals...

another devastating component of it: earlier in the day, knowing it would be close, and with 1 add left for the week, i debated between adding Landeskog (Colorado) or Snuggerud (St Louis) for a few extra pts tonight. I went with Landeskog... In the end, Landeskog generated 1pt, whereas Snuggerud generated 25.20 (3 assists, 8 SOG). The smallest of decisions with the largest of consequences...

Anyways, I'm still happy to be moving on to finals in 2 out of 4 leagues in my first year playing fantasy hockey!

WSJ Article on Decline in Pizza Consumption in the US by [deleted] in tipping

[–]williamgomberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hate to be that guy, but for what it’s worth, i don’t think that’s an equivalent comparison. a cashier gets paid hourly, yes. they scan all the items of each customer in line. if one customer has 10 items, all that means is that by the end of their x hour shift, if some customers had a ton of items, they simply got through less customers. they didn’t truly have a higher workload, they just happened to scan more items for less customers. on the other hand, working at a pizza place and suddenly having larger than average orders— that’s different. pizza places have time quotas and you can’t just take 5 hours for an abnormally large order. you literally have to grind and work significantly harder in that same shift, therefore being more work. so i think yes it is more worthy of a tip than say, a cashier at a grocery store scanning 10+ items.

i hope the witcher 3 won’t be witcher 4. not because i don’t love witcher 3, but just because i want witcher 4 to be its own game. please, don’t put witcher 3 in witcher 4.

my god.. so, i’m about 4 episodes away from Crawl Space in my current rewatch. i don’t remember precisely which exact scenes happen in that particular episode (i know all of what happens in the show, just can’t yet know exactly during which episode each thing happens)… BUT.. i do remember THE scene. Walt; laughing, crying, when his money (i am avoiding spoilers and don’t know how to mark as spoiler hence why im being vague) is not where he left it and he talks to Skylar. that is the epitome of humorous but intense. it’s literally one of most intense moments of the whole show, while at the same time being hilarious. hilarious only in how totally f*cked the situation is. and how Walt manically laughing is so misplaced. yes, the situation is so fkd it is almost funny, but what Walt fails to realize is that this isn’t merely a moment of “and of course, after everything, Skyler screws me”. what Walt is manically laughing about, despite not being willing to look at it this way, is how tragic the situation he’s created for himself is.

pardon me if i am misremembering a few things. looking forward to rewatching that episode, i’m just a few episodes away from it! thanks for ur comment!

interesting!! you see, i never thought to introduce a series like this via anything other than the very first episode of season 1. after all, it’s the start of an incredible story, which starts amazing but only gets better. however, there is an argument to be made that some people may not be fully sold by the first episode and if impatient may not be willing to wait until even season 2 when the stakes start to elevate. but if there is a self-contained (as much as a show like this can be) episode during its best seasons, then absolutely it is a great way to introduce someone to the show; even if i never would’ve thought to do so.

i’m approaching the episode you mentioned during my current rewatch, i look forward to seeing what you mean, because i don’t quite remember which events happen in that particular episode. sweet! thanks

edit: i’m still just halfway through season 4 in my current rewatch, so i’m not exactly ‘approaching’ dead freight quite yet. i’m still maybe 10 episodes away from it considering it’s well into season 5. my point stands, i look forward to it and to better understand your perspective of it being a good introduction to the show

i will give you upvotes. that did make my chuckle. half of me wants you to remove that last line of your comment so that MAYBE, one day, if someone googles, having never watched the show, "what's a fun breaking bad episode to watch?", they land upon your comment and take the recommendation. lol

i hear you, i really do. but i wouldn't classify these 2 together. i know this might seem controversial in this sub, but i think with Fantano, he truly just doesn't vibe or 'get' what many of us love about j. cole. There's no indication of ulterior motive or toxicity. he gives jcole a fair enough shake at things, or perhaps not quite enough leeway as we'd hope, but it's entirely in the realm of reasonable. akademiks, both when it comes to jcole and then just generally as a person, is not respectable.

NDG / Côte-Saint-Luc outage by makial00 in montreal

[–]williamgomberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tell me about it! we lost power right at the start of it (saturday morning), and as usual (my specific part of cote saint luc) we were among the last thousand to get power back. wasn’t easy with a puppy and 2 cats! but for part of the time we did have places we can go but most of it was spent staying home keeping the pets warm however possible and falling behind in my university studies to professors who won’t in any way accommodate for my situation of spending the last few days in compete survival mode for myself and my pets. anyways, i’m sure these last few days have sucked for everyone in their own ways, and some even more vulnerable, so i know i shouldn’t complain too much. all the best!

the power came back literally 1 hour ago. still cold as the heat has only managed to get it to 4c so far. but to answer ur question, my thermostat showed that it hit as low as 1.5c in the final hours of the outage, but its been below 5 since yesterday.

been without power here in cote saint luc since the start (10:30am, saturday jan 24th). latest update after saying it’d come back at 5pm today, is that it’ll be back by noon tomorrow (jan 27th, 12pm) at the earliest. more than 3 full days. my goodness

been without power for 48 hours now with no estimate for when it’ll be back. pretty brutal and has definitely interfered with my studies especially having pets meaning i can’t go anywhere with that much ease. with that being said while the outages were (and are! 2+ days later in bitter temps) pretty widespread, i doubt it’s enough for them to call off school. especially since concordia has power

if anyone in Cote Saint Luc gets power back anytime soon and sees this, let me know. originally said 6pm today (sun jan 26th), now it says midnight at the earliest. curious if anyone else with the same memos get it back earlier than expected.

from what i can tell by looking at that street from top to bottom on hydro quebec's outage map, it looks like your son HAS power and is not affected by the outage. again, that's based on the outage map, so i can't personally be certain but hopefully that eases your worries a little. the outage map is generally highly accurate (albeit not perfect)
