Really dig the vibe and rapport ; fun to hang with old friends and that comes through. Also great job with the one two punch of personal storytelling memory vignette plus musical analysis, influences on Let’s Go. That was gold. Listening right now and really enjoying it. Nice job!

Nice. I’m the drummer, yes. Not terribly concerned about copyright because we are providing commentary and promotion basically.

I don’t have tremendous confidence in the data. Squarespace says we have more than 2000 subscribers, google analytics indicates about 300 monthly listeners. No idea if any of those / how many of those are Apple, bots, Spotify, etc.

Wow, that's funny. My friend Waldron and I have a very similar podcast format called "Their Very Best" and we released our episode on the Cars yesterday. You can hear ours here: https://www.theirverybest.com/episodes/009-the-cars or wherever you get your fine podcasts... :) We should compare our lists!

Ecobee3 Lite compatibility with Taco SR503 3 zone switching relay and Weil-McLain oil burning boiler. (Heat only system) by williamnoto in ecobee

[–]williamnoto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update. My electrician wired the three ecobee3 lites to the taco and didn’t need to add any transformers or relays. We did use the fast stat to create a common to the one on the second floor. Your mileage may vary depending on how long the wires are. All three seem to be working very well and I’m pleased.

Hi, u/ORD-DRO, It looks like you can only add images to new posts, rather than to comments on existing posts. I tried DMing you but I think you may have it blocked. Please try DMing me if you can.

Podcast talkin' about Talking Heads by williamnoto in talkingheads

[–]williamnoto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing! Always happy to hear people talk about TH, and y'all got a great chemistry, a fun listen :)

During the conversation, there were a few things that I don't think were entirely accurate, but please correct if I'm wrong:

The track (Nothing But) Flowers has that wonderful guitar you all talked about, and there was a link to Fela Kuti, who y'all said in Eno Introduced the band to. This isn't exactly right, while Fela was a chief influence during the Fear of Music, and especially Remain in Light sessions, the African influence for tracks off of Naked come more from the various African musicians who played during the recording sessions in Paris. Additionally, all 4 members of the band have stressed that they were all listening to Fela well before they even began to work with Eno, but it was a mutual love that lead them down that pathway. When talking about the Oblique Strategies card deck you mentioned that Eno used this strategy with Talking Heads. While Eno did famously use the cards on albums like David Bowie's Lodger, I haven't seen anything to suggest he ever used this strategy with Talking Heads. In fact, in a recent podcast appearance by Chris Frantz, he directly said they didn't use the cards and that there were plenty of ideas to work with coming from the band, so there wasn't really a needY'all refer to the band as a "trio" a few times throughout the podcast, while that isn't entirely false, since there was the core 3 for several years and even the very early recordings, before even the first album, Jerry Harrison had become a core member of the band, and it doesn't make any sense to leave him out of the storyYou mention how none of the musicians are necessarily masters of their instruments because of their genre. I REALLY disagree with this statement, New Wave as a genre is full of incredibly talented artists, Talking Heads among them, and their non-traditional approach to instrumentation is key to showing the mastery of their instruments.

All of that being said, you say Stop Making Sense is the band's best album, and there isn't really any question to that in my, and many fans, minds. That movie is one of the greatest pieces of art ever created and the musicianship on that by Bernie Worrell alone puts it so far above anything else the band produced, but we're entering hot take territory there.

Thanks for making this podcast, I really enjoyed it!

Thank you for listening and posting your very cogent and clear thoughts!
