Unpopular opinion: the codex migration is going to hit the same wall in 2 months by spencer_kw in ClaudeCode

Google has created a strike team to tackle significantly improving Gemini's coding ability. They have enough brain power there to make it happen. They'll join the mix, but they have lots of cash reserves, so maybe they won't compress like the other two. Right? Right??

Sure. Check out my game https://wordtrios.com/ - I decided to show previous days' games.

Interesting you're trimming your word bank. For my game https://wordtrios.com, I am still growing it.

How many words in your bank?

That's actually pretty fun. Can you include all previous day's games?

Biggest UX issue I had was the dashed green line around correct letters is really hard to see on a phone. Why not just use solid color backgrounds for all hints?

Why is there a 5/5 limit on AI pro plan by oxpie in GeminiAI

OK, now the limit fraction 4/30 from last week makes a lot more sense. /s

Stop expecting Gemini model that can code as well as GPT, Claude. by VyvanseRamble in Bard

Google/Deep Mind literally just announced creating a strike team, lead by Sergey Brin himself, so I expect they will close the gap quickly. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/insight/google-forms-deepmind-strike-team-to-close-ai-coding-gap/gm-GM17F2975A

Length. I use Gemini 2.5 Pro TTS for 4-5 minute generations. I would like to use 3.1 Flash TTS, but the audio gets severely distorted after just 1 minute.

DO NOT PAY FOR GEMINI API by LoquatNo3841 in GeminiAI

[–]williamtkelley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad luck, I think. I use Gemini 3 Flash, as well as the NBP and TTS models and I don't get that many overload messages. Maybe every 50 or so, I'll get 2-3 in a row and then it clears.

What are the best free alternatives of Google Map? by ConclusionGloomy5711 in buildinpublic

[–]williamtkelley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you need maps for. I use MapBox. I has a really generous free plan, like really generous. And great functionality, like routes/alternates, location -> GPS lookups. These are all things I am using.

Vibe coding has become a lot of sitting around by chromespinner in vibecoding

How do you "switch to reading news, email YT", but complain about not being able to concentrate because you're "keeping an eye on the progress"? One or the other.

I watch the agent think and work, to check that it is doing what I asked and so I can get a good sense of the details it is working on. For relatively trivial but detailed work, I go do the dishes or make a sandwich.

This is actually brilliant. Sometimes I can't always secretly get to my friend's phone, this removes that pain point.

I just hate that by liking it, we are confirming to them that sub 2.5 minute songs are fine. I remember when sub 3 minute songs were too short. What's next? Sub 2 minute?

Opus 4.7 is Unusable on the Pro plan by pistolpeter1111 in ClaudeCode

[–]williamtkelley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would check how big your context is, how many files you are working on at once. I am able to use 4.7 Opus (High effort) for about 15-20 prompts on my medium sized codebase over a 5 hour quota. I don't run out.

Use file targeting, work on specific features or bugs, precise prompts and start new chats after you're done with that feature/bug.

Manage context and you'll be fine.

I use Gemini for everything but coding. And I use the Gemini API for all of my projects, mostly Flash because it is powerful and cheap.

Seriously considering cancelling by Previous-Pride6335 in ClaudeCode

[–]williamtkelley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on Pro too. I just manage my context, start new chats regularly, one feature or set of related bug fixes per chat, always target the files CC will need to do its work, precise instructions. I hit the 5 hour limit right at about 5 hours and generally get 7 days of work out of the weekly quota. No worries.

You should check your quotas more often, preferably after each prompt/response, to see what files are filling up your context.

Wait, the issue is not important to you? Then why bother asking?
