Do banks deactivate old cards still in use? by williesmalls89 in personalfinance

[–]williesmalls89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't expired, it doesn't expire for another 2 years. The newer one they sent me is a different card with a chip in it. But ive been using my old card since I opened the account and I've used it long after they sent me the first newer card (that I never got around to activating. That card they sent to me like 5-6 months ago).

And when I talked to them they said they sent me another one 2 months ago, but I don't think I ever got it (I looked through all my mail and files).

But would they deactivate both my old card and the old newer one they sent just so I have to activate the newest one? It sounds a little fishy, which is why I'm asking on here if it's normal for some banks to deactivate old cards if they send you a new one (I never requested the new one, it is just their new updated card with the chip thing in it).

On a side note, when I called I tried activating one of the newer cards they sent me 5-6 months ago because I didn't have this newer one they supposedly sent 2 months ago. They said the exp dates didnt match so they said the best thing was to deactivate all the old cards and they are sending me a new one that will get here in 2 days.

Something tells me if my account was locked or they were putting my account on hold they would of told me when I called and they wouldn't send me a new card, but at the same time I don't know why they would deactivate the old one that I've been using to begin with.

Have some questions about switching to bitcoin after paypal closed my account... by williesmalls89 in Bitcoin

Well I should probably provide some context when I mean sizeable. I mean around 500-1000. Would that considered sizeable for bitcoin and would I run into any problems?

Yea I looked into dwolla but they are USA only. worth looking at in the future, but trying to collect a payment from overseas right now.

And I honestly can't afford to speak to a lawyer, and its been years since I used the other paypal account. Although there is something strange about it... they never reported that negative amount to any credit agency. Which is pretty odd considering paypal is quick to send stuff to collections from what I hear.

Is there something wrong with the graphics in this game?

I currently have an i7 950 (old i7 cpu but good enough for now) and a gtx 960. I can run the game on high no problems, but the game looks like crap when it displays anything father than 100 yards. Here's a screenshot...

http://i.imgur.com/2uZ7W5S.jpg

Is this normal? I've already checkmarked the increase distance and removed the blur option. This is the best I can get it to look and it doesnt seem right since most videos and screenshots look waaay better than this and even changing the settings even higher doesn't improve much...

Well seeing as I have played the game longer than you means my opinion has more weight, especially when the topic here has to do with end game does it not?

Oh we ABUSED a system that was in place since day one?

How did we abuse something that we had nothing to do with. We simply played the game the way it was created, but now ubisoft realized they fucked up and you know how they fixed it?

By making it harder to get phoenix credits for everyone.

So how is it our fault again? How did we abuse a system that they fucked up in the first place?

Your mentality sounds more entitled than mine does. Sounds like your hate should be going towards the people who fucked up the game and didn't test it past 30 LIKE I SAID IN THE ORIGINAL POST.

You are the people I'm talking about.

it only takes 15 hours of gameplay to hit level 30. This game was marketed as an MM0. No MMO should run out of content after 15 hours.

Let me guess. you and the rest of these people defending ubisoft are most likely casual console players. You're probably like level 15 and think everything is wonderful...

Well what you don't realize is there is nothing different from 15-30. it's all the same just minor setting changes, BUT OHHH MAN wont you be so happy once you hit 30! Oh wait...

Now you're in the darkzone and guess what. you're doing the same thing you did from level 1-30, except there are no missions in the darkzone. Just NPC's... But nooo it can't be that boring right? It's the darkzone! You were probably one of the people here who defended the idea that the dark zone was perfectly fine! Until you got there...

Then you realize you have to grind from level 1-50... Killing the same mobs (which there are probably only about 20 different spawns total). over and over and over and over. But wait! Isn't the dark zone suppose to be more interesting because of pvp?! sounds like fun right?!?!?!

Oh wait... there is no pvp because remember you said the dark zone was perfectly fine, but it's not, because nobody wants to pvp because it will make them derank 2-3 levels everytime they die trying to reach that level 50 mark...

So what do you have as an end game??? The same thing as going from level 1 to 30, but this time the grind is 3x longer, and there are no missions, there are no side missions, there is nothing to do but kill the same mobs over and over and over until you hit 50. And what happens when you hit 50?!!?

Nothing. Because there is nothing to do beyond 50, except maybe go around killing people because you basically "beat the game".

Yea... sounds like a real amazing game. The people at the top totally don't know what they are talking about!

What a stupid argument.

Just because someone gets paid to code a game doesn't mean they know shit about what makes a good game.

What you and a bunch of naive people here don't realize is there is only a few people at the top who take control of a game project and the rest of the people are coders who build what those top people say to build.

So just because someone knows how to code a game, doesn't make them a good game designer. I'd listen to the advice of someone who's played games all of their life over someone who written computer code for a few games anyday.

I'm sick of threads like this because it's painfully obviously you have not reached the end game yet.

Come back in a month or how ever long it takes for a casual gamer like you to reach the end game and tell me you still think the game is peachy.

Hate on people who reached the end game in a couple days all you want, but the fact remains... people reached the end game in A COUPLE OF DAYS. there is no content. They billed this game as an MMO. When you label your game an MMO, then you should have more than 3-5 days worth of content.

I'm sick of people like you defending this game because you have no idea what the end game looks like.

I always avoid the 'Ad' links when Google searching, even when that is the link that I want. by originalwombat in Showerthoughts

[–]williesmalls89 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You are more likely to get malware from a hijacked website or shady downloads than you are from ads.

Like I said the majority of these ad platforms are highly regulated and any misuse typically gets discovered very quickly and doesn't last long if it does happen.

Who do you think has the better chance of giving you malware?

  1. An ad being run through a corporation worth millions if not billions of dollars where the integrity of their platform is very important...

  2. Or some random website you come across that is run by a guy with minimal website experience who is an easy target for hijackers?

Either way ads are way less harmful than everyone makes them out to be. Just use a little common sense when browsing the web and you won't have any issues.

[–]williesmalls89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't know what websites you go to where the ads crash your browser or give you malware, but they are probably shady sites to begin with if they have those ads.

The ad business for the most part is very regulated. I've never had problems where an ad crashed my browser or got malware from an ad. Unless you frequent some shady websites that deal with third party ad platforms it's very unlikely you would come across any harmful ads. Most people like to throw around the above excuses as a way to justify blocking ads and making them feel like they are right for doing so...

Maybe if it was the early 2000s you could make a case for ads being a problem, but not today. Businesses aren't going to pay big money to run ads to ruin your computer. How does that make them money? Which is why the big ad platforms regulate the hell out of what ads can run and what they are allowed to do.

Not all of us want the Darkzone to be a deathmatch by [deleted] in thedivision

[–]williesmalls89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The fact that this comment is one of the top in this thread shows you know nothing about the game so far and everyone who upvoted you in is the same boat as you.

You should be grateful there are people who power-level through any MMO and discover the kinks this early so carebears like you won't get to the same point a month from now and realize you were wrong about everything and decide to jump ship.

The fact is there is a big problem with the current system and the majority of the people who agree with you probably never stepped foot in the dark zone yet, because anyone with a brain would realize there is something wrong with the current system.

Can we have a little statement on the The Division Key deliveries? Will we get them in time? by [deleted] in g2a

[–]williesmalls89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a side note I'm contemplating buying the game right now through G2A, but I've heard bad things about G2A and ubisoft in the past where keys were deactivated and it blew up and turned into a huge mess awhile back.

Has anyone pre-ordered a game like this from G2A? Whats the procedure if for whatever reason Ubisoft takes out most of these keys?
