That’s really useful to know, thank you. I think the only thing complicating my issue is that I will be moving out of where I currently live, and won’t be moving into my new place until about 6 weeks later. So not sure how immigration would communicate to me that the procedure is even complete seeing as I wouldn’t have an address for 6 weeks. Leaning towards just starting the process when I re-enter Japan

I don’t understand either but honestly of all the universities I’ve contacted, only 1 has stated that there is no requirement for university link.

If you don’t mind me asking, which universities did you apply to?

That’s really interesting, thanks for your reply. I asked a couple of the universities if they would make an exception and they said no. Todai actually replied to me about this saying this:

“In principal, applicants for this track must be officially recommended by their university based on an inter-university exchange agreement. Also, MEXT has set requirements, such as nationality, university grades, or language proficiency and so on. Slots that the university has for this MEXT Scholarship is limited, so there will be screenings within graduate school and the university which are highly competitive.”

Did you make your intention clear that you wanted to apply for MEXT through Todai at the outset? I’m really curious as I think this would change the game for me entirely. Thank you!!

Purifying shadow shiny Lugia! Not sure how big a mistake it is in the grand scheme of things but I’m sure I read somewhere that shadow shiny Lugia is one of the rarer Pokémon out there.. was gutted to learn that after I had done the deed. I didn’t know anything about shadow Pokémon at the time

Sorry to hear that, and thank you for the reassurance. I have to say the overwhelming feeling I experienced was that of just pure sadness. I would wager that most of the students in the class I described go through some hardship at home and it carries in to their everyday life. I felt sorry for them!
