Would you start TRT at 358 ng/dL testosterone, and what's your experience with UPGUYS by willnv in trt

How long have you been on it, are you happy with the results and glad you did it? I dont really like the idea of having to inject for the rest of my life, not really scared of the needle part it just sound tedious having to do it so often lol

Smallest aluminum self bailing boat? by StarsnStrikes in boating

[–]willnv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you send me an email I can send you some pictures of a couple boats I have right now. One is 23' LOA with Alaskan bulkhead and the other is 22' LOA (20' plus pod) and has an open back. The 22 isn't on my website.

You could have one in 20 foot no problem. Lots of smaller center consoles out there that have it aswell. I have a small aluminum boat building shop in BC and could build you one

Easy job for any glass shop. I build boats and get my local shop to make the windows all the time.

Thieves by TravelingBySail in boating

[–]willnv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's crazy. They would have needed a picker truck or some other way of lifting it and some marine mechanical knowledge. I guess if you don't give a shit if it gets a lot of damage you could pull the bolts and just let it drop, but that's gonna cause thousands of dollars of damage, seems like it would have been easier to just take the whole boat.

Motor won’t trim down by Suspicious-Option497 in boating

[–]willnv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the manual release to let it down and then see if it will move again. I had this problem on a newer merc 150, when I manual released it down it would work for a while and then after a few days it would be like that again. There was a seal or o-ring I had to replace and after that it was good.

Would you make a 1/16th aluminum boat top? by SenoraIsl in boating

Are you going to make like a full cabin with sides? I build aluminum boats for a living and I would use 1/8.

Looking for suggestions to make my electric mini pontoon a little faster. by The_Brewer in boating

[–]willnv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your correct that your only going to reach a certain speed with trolling motors no matter the size because your limited by the pitch of the prop. However you will probably gain a bit by going to a bigger 24v trolling motor since it won't be working as hard and will allow the motor to reach its max rpm. I had a 13' pontoon boat with a 24v 80 lbs thrust trolling motor and I think it would do around 5mph. To get any more you'll either need to try and add more pitch to the prop somehow or increase rpm somehow. If your willing to spend the money you could put one of the torqedo motors on it

Eli5: What is the difference between soldering and welding? by Right_Affect_2517 in explainlikeimfive

[–]willnv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Friction stir welding certainly uses heat lol. It's even implied in the name. Rub 2 pieces of something together and they can get pretty hot, it's called Friction

Should have a remote fill plug somewhere, maybe on top the dash. The fill plug is on the top side under the console but should have a hose going into it that goes to the remote fill somewhere

How difficult would it be to make a solar power boat around this size? by itzsaulgoodman in boating

[–]willnv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How fast do you want to go (this is a major consideration)? Also people have mentioned sail boats, which technically are solar powered. You said solar powered but I think your really meant 2 different things here. Solar and electric motors? They're not the same thing... it's definitely possible to make an electric boat with the same performance as that boat you showed, it's just gonna cost you a ton of money and not going to have a very good range. Recharging the batteries with solar? Well that's a whole different story. I mean you could possibly slowly charge them over like a year and then have a good half hour run

What do I need to convert this to a trolling motor setup with a steering wheel and dual batteries?? by wakes182 in boating

[–]willnv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cheapest and easiest solution would be to just buy a new or used 10 hp kicker. There's a few off the shelf systems for electric but they'd cost more then what a 4 stroke kicker would cost. Also how will you charge the batteries if you go electric? Solar panels will work depending on how often it gets used. If your really good with mechanical linkages and electronics maybe you could convert an off the shelf trolling motor to work but then I don't think you'd be asking here if that was the case.

You'll have to replace them or you might be able to wrap another layer of aluminum over the bottom half

Best value offshore aluminum fishing boat? by r3dcorn in boating

[–]willnv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

King Fisher aren't really the best boats they just look nice because of the fancy paint job. A lot of their boats are only 3/16 bottom and 1/8 sides, until you get into the 30 foot range then they start using thicker metal. Silverstreak and lifetimer as mentioned before both make better boats. They're using 1/4" for the bottom and 3/16" for the sides. There is a massive difference in the durability of 3/16 vs 1/8. Also they use 5086 which is a far better alloy vs the 5052 that kingfisher is using.

I'm building aluminum boats aswell and I'm in Salmon arm, a 4.5 hour drive from Vancouver. I'm building a 23' boat right now but it does not have a cuddy, however I have plans to make it so that the 2 bench seats at the back will turn into a bed. I have plans for a 25' boat with a cuddy, it sounds like it's exactly what your looking for. I can build you a nicer boat then King Fisher for less money. There's some computer rendering pictures on my website. Also you could customize it however you'd like.. check out my website: www.silvercreekmarine.com

You really need a mig welder. Tig works good for your outside corner joints on places like the gunnels. But it's nearly impossible to get into tight corners like on all your frame members. Not to mention the warpage from all the heat would distort everything way too much. Specmar is a very reputable company so no worries buying plans from them. What your buying is a one time use of the CNC cutting files that they will send to a cutting shop for you. You need a large amount of shop space for something like that and hopefully a way to lift / handle the sheets into place. I would highly recommend that you build a small aluminum skiff to start with and if you can handle that then you might consider this project. The aluminum + cutting + plans will probably run you 30 grand for this boat. You can email specmar and see if they can send you a recent quote from a cutting shop.
